We stayed here for two nights in September in an Elegance Double room. Large room and bathroom. The guy who checked us in recommended excellent restaurants. The location is close to the train station but far enough away that it was quiet and peaceful. The breakfast was very good with endless coffee. I would definitely stay here again. We spent 30 days in France at various hotels. This was one of the better values.

Room Tip: The Elegance Double is worth paying extra for.

We stayed here for an overnight in August. I have to say, we found it to be a rather typical TA recommendation - ie long on "character", short on quality and, I have to say, value. Our room had a high ceiling, yes. But it was small, dark, airless, overlooked an ugly back yard, the wallpaper was peeling, the furniture was all of very poor quality, (the sofas were just horrible and looked like they'd been picked up cheap in a junk shop), the linen and towels were just OK, the fittings all old. We booked about two months in advance for this. The bathroom was good however. Breakfast (for 7 Euros) was coffee and pastries, no fruit or cereals. They are friendly and helpful here but to be honest, for 175 euros for two doubles with that breakfast, we'd have done better in a less "characterful" but better appointed chain hotel. Is it in a good location? It's on the edge of the central town, opposite a car park where prostitutes ply their trade.

Its grandeur may be slightly faded, but Hotel de Paris retains enough character and charm with a personal touch to be a good choice for somewhere between the tremendous Benedictines station and the old city. Very good value, facing the park and station and perfectly comfortable. Room a little tired but good view. Would recommend for an overnight or weekend stay.

On arrival in the evening at the time I had warned the hotel I would be there, it took some minutes to find staff to check me in. The process was then pleasant enough, but the room I'd been allocated wasn't good. Small to start with, it had been made even smaller by the installation of an adequate shower room divided from the room by cheap partitioning. There was a large stain on the carpet and, there being no bed head, the wall where guests' heads had rested was stained and dirty. The room desperately needs redecorating. This was sad, because the downstairs (reception, breakfast room) have been recently refurbished and is smart and fresh. Breakfast itself was a very good French breakfast, various breads, jams, butter, juices, coffee, tea and yoghurt. Looked after very well by the proprietor (?) who was attentive and friendly. But until they do something about the room, I'll not consider returning.

Room Tip: Until the rooms are brought to the decorative state of the ground floor, stay somewhere else.

Stayed at this hotel 2 weeks ago and returned again for 1 night. Great location, period buliding and high ceilings and very large bathroom, breakfast in nice dinning room, free parking across the road, very friendly English speaking staff, would highly recommend.

Stayed 2 nights, its an old pleasant hotel with small rooms, no drawers to put anything in but there was an alcove to hang things up.
Disappointing breakfast at 7 euros mostly bread and jam, had to ask for yoghurt and butter.
Staff were nice and good location.

Really enjoyed our stay here... the place had a great feel, and our room on the 2nd floor was so lovely. On TA recommendations we chose the Elegance Room, and just loved it....the sun poured into this yellow room in the morning, with its high ceilings, and it just made you feel happy and positive for the day. It was well worth the climb up the stairs, but we were prepared for stairs as you have to be in France when travelling public transport, so it was not a problem...

Breakfast was good, and after Paris, was very generous with its selections of breads making it most enjoyable.
