Great location with free parking opposite. Hotel owner very informative of places to visit, eat or drink. Owner and staff very welcoming and always ready to help. Breakfast was sufficient and good quality, unlimited coffee, tea and choice of fruit juice.

On arrival had to listen to a long account of the owners dispute with the booking site that we had used for our reservation. We were offered another room to look at but opted to stay with the one we had booked as we were only staying one night. Tiny room up 2 flights of spiral stairs with a heavy case is not good. The room was stiflingly hot. No aircon so we had to sit with the windows and room door open to cool the place down until we went to bed. The room over looked a busy Road and car park so had to shut the windows when we went to bed due to noise. There is no lift and if you want to access any part of the building other than the reception you must be able to climb stairs. Only one set of towels provided for a double room and 1 tiny sachet of shampoo/body wash.
Had to hand key in every time you left the building and it was hung on a numbered rack behind the small desk. The reception wasn't permanently manned so anyone could come in and nip up to the rooms.
Breakfast was simple and not include in the booking price.
Overall ok . Clean but tired decor. Ok as a stop over but wouldn't stay for more than one night. Not suitable for those with mobility issues.

For those who want a hotel of character at a very competitive price this is it. Easy walk through an attractive park to the station, we went to see it for the architecture, very impressive. Easy walk, slightly uphill, to the city centre (Halles, big shops, loads of restaurants etc). The hotel management could not have been more friendly and accommodating, the manager/owner? speaks excellent English and has the canny knack of being there when you want assistance, but remains unobtrusive in the background otherwise. Car parking is public in front of the hotel and unguarded but the is little/no evidence of any trouble (broken car window glass). We were allowed to choose a room after having been shown a couple of options we had prebooked, how refreshing! Only problem experienced was the internal door handle on the bathroom door fell off. I quickly fixed that! Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: You get a good view with a room facing the station/front street but there was a little noise outside...

we booked a bigger twin room and were very pleased.

We stayed at this hotel 2 weeks ago for 1 night. Would have liked to stay longer,
Good location, period buliding and high ceilings lovely easy staircase, nice room with good beds and very large bathroom, petit dejeuner with fresh breads on sunday in a very nice dinning room, free parking across the road, very friendly English speaking manager, would highly recommend.

Room Tip: We had a quiet twin room, first floor over the entrance

We chose this hotel because we needed to be near the Gare de Lyon train station. We found it very quaint, extremely comfortable and very clean. The girls on the desk spoke perfect English and were very cheerful and helpful.

Room Tip: Fantastic location for Gare de Lyon train station .. just a 5-10 minute stroll down the road

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights at the end of a short holiday near Limoges. I'd read some critical comments before arriving but was delighted to find the hotel to be elegant with lots of charm. The comments about the manager were spot on, he was so helpful and genuinely went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. Okay so it didn't have tea making facilities but if that is important then stay at a generic hotel in a chain. The breakfast room was delightful, breakfast simple but better than many hotels costing more, endless coffee, very fresh bread etc.
Our room overlooked the park and had a free large public car park opposite. We would choose to stay again if visiting the area and have stayed in the number 1 choice hotel on TA in the city.

Room Tip: Go for a superior room at the front of the hotel, the basic room would be okay for a short overnight...
