I have just returned from my first visit to the Verdun Battlefields. I arrived on Armistice day, which seemed a fitting start to my discovery of the battlefields.
I found the Motel ideally situated for trips out to the various forts and battlefields around Verdun. It is easily found, being located on the outskirts of the City, just follow the road that runs along the west bank of the river Meuse, and head in the direction of MacDonlads on Avenue de Metz! Parking no problem, as the Motel has its own secure car park right in front of the Motel.
The rates were very economical, 27 euros (November 2005), it is ideal for the single traveller or couples although the room will accommodate 3 people, double bed and bunk bed above, but in that case not much room for storage of clothes or suitcases.
The rooms were minimilist, but clean and tidy and cleaned daily with fresh towels supplied as well, no complaints at all.
The showers and toilet cubicles situated at the end of the corridor were again cleaned reularly, and the shower was hot!
The brakfast supplied for an extra 3 euros a day was basic, but sufficient, limitless coffee, baguettes and jam.
There is an excellent Buffaloe Grill right next door, I can reccommend the Ribs and the Chile!
There is a shopping Mall within walkable distance which can supply all of your food needs, I recommend Aldi, great prices and even the dreaded MacDonalds.
Overall I was very satisfied with the Motel, for the price it can't be beaten, and I had an excellent nights sleep!
My only question is, why only 6 days maximum stay?
