“Welcoming - a very warm welcome”
Reviewed 13 June 2011

This is a very lovely little hotel - warm and welcoming. The proprietors are extremely helpful. The room is not luxurious but it is clean, comfortable and well done. The location is good. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

Well, I'm not sure what the great positive fuss is about this small hotel.

Our room was tiny and I mean tiny. It was hard to get format he bed to the bathroom. (Looked nothing like the pictures on this site). But that could be fine for 1 night. However, the bathroom had one light, uncovered, so that when on, it shone in your eyes. So it was hard to see anything. And very annoying. And this annoying light barely lit up one corner of the bathroom anyway.

The breakfast was fine and the lobby is cute.

They close the front desk at 10PM and we almost missed them and would have been locked out. We were not told this was the rule.

We unfortunately got into Albi at night and it was dark and almost impossible to find the hotel. A lovely gentleman from a restaurant showed us the way.

I would never go back there. (Yes the proprietors were nice.) But so incredibly uncomfortable.

Great hotel for a couple. Owner helped my spouse take everything upstairs because I had sprained ankle. He made sure we were all set for the night. Room had a small refrig AND a great little hotpot for making water! There were even some coffee and tea bags in room. We only spent one night - would have been nice to be there longer. Beds were fine. Proprietor was wonderful - made a phone call for us; showed us where to park, more than helpful. Spoke English well.

Typically French. When we stayed owners were in the process of refurbishing. The public rooms had been done and were lovely. The decorations in our room were a little tired, but it is obvious this will be sorted as and when and did not detract from our satisfaction as the furnishings / shower-room were very good and clean. (May well have been re-decorated by now). The owners' personal collection of memrabillia is displayed and is interesting. The air-con was very welcome and it was extremely hot in June. We met one of the owner's who could not have been more helpful, recommending a visit to a local swimming lake as it was too hot to do anything-else. The hotel is just a short walk from the centre of Albi. Parking is free in the local square.

During my six-week trip through Europe, this was a pleasant find. The rooms are basic, though much nicer than other two stars in which I stayed. The owner was very helpful with the sights and restaurants. Excellent location. Free parking is less than a block away. Good, free wifi. A winner!

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and had a very good experience. The owner was very friendly, spoke very good English and he made us feel most welcome. He directed us to free parking across the street from the hotel, pointed out the free interent, gave us a map of Albi and also some suggestions for restaurants and things to see (there happened to be many events happening that weekend).

The building is old and the hotel is a 2 star, so we didn't expect luxury accomodations, however, this hotel exceeded our expectations and were we to visit Albi again, we would certainly stay here. It is a short walk to the historic district and is a good bargain.

Our room was clean, very large and comfortable with a large bathroom. In addition to the queen-sized bed, there was also a single bed so the room was suitable for three people. There was a small fridge in the room and coffee/tea making supplies (but as a previous review indicated, the plastic cups were a very light plastic that you couldn't really use for anything hot). The room was nicely decorated, the toiletry supplies and towels were plentiful, and we had a/c. The only downside to our room was that it was located next to the housekeeping closet and we were awakened early with the sounds of the housekeeping staff.

The breakfast is also good value offering more than the standard French breakfast options of croissant and bread.

I'd never heard of Albi until I went there this July for a friends wedding and it is truly a lovely place. Our trip was made all the better by staying at this hotel.

I travelled with my husband and my brother and his girlfriend. We went on a train adventure taking the train all the way from the London to Albi, so we arrived very late at the hotel. They accommodated this need for a late check-in no problems.

Each room is decorated differently which is a nice touch and shows how much thought has gone into this hotel.
If you like sleek modern hotels, this is probably not for you. This has a charm with lots of vintage touches, but there are a lot of design touches too - you'll spot what looks like a Kartell lamp or chair.

The bedroom we had was lovely, nicely decorated with possibly the biggest bed I'd seen - the Free Wi-Fi was a great touch and super useful.

It's a very small town so this hotel is within walking distance of all the sights.

This hotel is rated as a two-star but it is way above it's star rating - no wonder it is the No.1 hotel for Albi!

The staff and owners were lovely and friendly and we had no complaints!
I would definitely stay here again if I was ever in Albi again.
