I do not know a more beautiful view over any city that beats this fantastic panorama. Reaching it is a matter of faith and perseverance. You cross the Pont Louis Philippe coming from the city and start off on the D6. Just keep your eyes open for signs to Mount St-Cyr, and keep going for 7 km. You will pass through forests, continuing up-hill, and then along a ridge, and finally you will start to descend slightly, never having had as much as a glimpse of the Lot and the city, at whbich point you may give up and turn round. Don't. Continue a little further and you will arrive at a car park. Walk towards the edge of the ridge, and without warning, you will be confronted with a view that will take your breath away. The entire city with its enfolding river and their many bridges is at your feet, and there is an excellent narrative to indicate the principle sights. You will remember it until the day you die.
