“You get a lot for 70 euros”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2009

Just as the last review states, it is hard to find although GPS does get you to the road and just remember the entrance is right next to the roundabout, then a small gravel uphill lane and you are there. It shares the main road with a hypermarket. Basically for 70 euros per room inc breakfast, we had basic hopes on this Chateau but boy were we wrong. Great room with old marble furniture, double aspect windows, breakfast served with care on the lawns and just wish we opted to saty for dinner as that was on the lawns under candlelight. Also really comfy bed. We loved it.

Free wifi but doesn't reach the second floor but works well in reception area, friendly owners and nice pool and easy parking.

Myself and my wife booked at this chateau for the night of our wedding anniversary on 12.2.08. We booked via the internet from the tourist information office in Aubeterre. We arrived in Cahors at midday and spent some time sightseeing in the City before heading off to register at the Chateau. We must have spent at least one hour driving around and around the area looking for the place. There is a sign for it at a roundabout close to Le Clercs supermarket and close to a commercial centre, not far from a busy motorway, however the sign points towards the Le Clercs giant car park area and it is only with time that one eventually realsises that a tiny gravelled inclined cut into the hillside leads to the chateau, It is only possible to access this from one direction as the angle to the road is so acute that a turn in from the opposite direction is impossible. We arrived at about 4 p.m. and accepting that we couldn't book in until 5 p.m we sat in the garden of what was an empty, locked building, the only sign that it was what we had searched for was a small label on the bell push, there is a sign "bienvenue", but no welcome. We waited until almost 5.30 p.m. for signs of life, but no one appeared. Eventually I made a mobile call to a number which was written on a piece of paper taped to the front door, a lady answered and said that she wasn't there because she was busy dealing with "administrative work". At this I gave up, I felt that we should have been treated better, we had booked in good time, we had earlier tried the number for the chateau when we were frustratedly trying to find it only to get a recorded message, I couldn't see that our stay was going to be comfortable given these lapses in normal hotel procedures, the contract had been broken by the hotel in my opinion, however Euro 42.50 has still gone from my account. Overall, pretty poor.
