It was a quirky little restaurant run by an elderly lady who was very kind and tried to be helpful, but her English was as limited as our French,so the menu was guesswork. We enjoyed the meal, and the chocolate pudding was amazing. We ate lunchtime and thought it was expensive for a lunch. Service was a little slow as it just seems to be the owner or the chef serving, however we had been made aware in advance, so don't expect a quick meal.

We choose this restaurant based on the reviews and were not dissapointed. The fish soup, foie gras starters were excellent. Wine was local and very good value. Mains of Cabillard, steak and duck were all flawless. My brulee, was divine, although my husband and brother did not like the topping of the chocolate fondant, it was easily removed and di not spoil the rest of the very rich chocolate ganache. The restaturant was very busy, (full of fellow scarlets supporters) therefore service was leisurely, for us this was not an issue and we enjoyed the slow pace. The place was just really really good.

We went to this restaurant on a Friday evening. There was only one other family in there and we thought that perhaps we had made a mistake. We hadn't. Madamme was charming and friendly - spoke no English but we managed to communicate with our basic French. We ordered one of the set menus for €29. Mis en Bouche to start, which comprised of small rolls of puff pastry with an aubergine/sweet pepper filling, Fish Soup, followed by Breast of Duck, cooked beautifully and then Creme Catalan with Grand Marnier.

The decor was lovely with vaulted ceiling and medieval furnishing.

We could not understand why the place was empty!

We would return without hesitation.

This is a great little restaurant recommended by both our guide book and our hotel. The room is spacious and very prettily decorated in an 11th century building overlooking the river. We went for one of the mid priced "menus" and everything set before us was delicious but the portions are enormous. I had the chicken livers to start and I seriously think they were the best I've had but there were about 14 of them! What with the aioli and toasts and the lovely bread we were seriously stuffed before dessert. However after a short break we rallied and spooned it all in! The wine list is short and to the point with no astronomical prices and we had a very acceptable local white to wash it all down.
The place seems to be run by two ladies on thier own, one cooking and one front of house. The lady serving was a little reserved at first but when she saw how much we were enjoying everything she even started smiling at my appalling French!
All in all a great meal and experience but unless you have a huge appetite go a la carte or share a starter - you really do get quality AND quantity

I thought this restaurant was lovely. If you are in a hurry to eat and leave, then I suggest you go somewhere else. However, if you want to spend a very pleasant and relaxing evening eating lovely food, with time in between the courses, then this is the place to go. Bon appetit!
