“Really worth a visit to this town”
Reviewed 19 November 2011

We were staying nearby in a farmhouse & gite and visited this beautiful little town. It has amazing old houses and churches - the road winds up steeply to the top of the hill with the houses and small interesting shops nestled in the slopes of the hill. The views across the countryside - on the way up the steep road are amazing! Hence the name . When you eventually reach the top (quite a climb) there is an ancient village square with bars and excellent restaurants surrounding it. The afternoon we visited we relaxed with a drink in the square and enjoyed the music a local group were playing. A perfect ending to our holiday - wish we had discovered the place before! ( Although we didn't use it - I think that there is a little road train for use of the less able)

This is a wonderful old town at the top of some very, very steep roads but well worth the walk. There is a little train which you can catch at the bottom of the town should you not wish to walk but it seems a shame as the lovely houses/buildings on the walk up are beautiful. When you get to the top there is a whole town with little shops, restaurants and hotels - its just beautiful all set arround a beautiful old square which used to be the old cattle market, the views are wonderful. Be warned the parking is often quite hard to find and its best to arrive early morning 10 ish for the best parking spaces which are at the bottom of the town.
