There was a large group of us - perhaps forty or so - and everyone had a simply wonderful meal! Cordes sur cielmay be slightly off the beaten track for mainstream tourists but anyone who wants to visit some of the French bastide towns will want to include this beautiful medieval walled town perched high on a hill so it seems to be floating in the sky . And there i the most amazing museum to chocolate and sugar there - every single exhibit ( paintings, tableaux, sculptures are ALL made of sugar and/or chocolate.
The hotel is just on the edge of town on the way out but well within walking distance of the centre.
We had the set menu , the main course was a rabbit casserole with cabbage. I'm not great on cabbage but whatever combination of sauces were used - it was melt in the mouth delicious.
Service was very efficient, the furniture and decor smacked of old world gentility, certificates and awards papered the walls. A wonderful meal, in a wonderful town, with wonderful company.
I want to go back to Cordes and next time I will stay in the Hostelerie!
