Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
Owner description: The Pic du Jer, towering over the town, is recognizable by its large cross which is illuminated at night. You can get there by a hundred-year-old funicular railway which takes you to the summit at an altitude of 1000 metres in a few minutes; it's a charming trip. At the top, a gentle path takes you to the observatory, where you will discover a unique panoramic viewpoint offering a 360° view over Lourdes, Tarbes, Pau, the Argeles-Gazost valley and the summits of the Pyrenees.

“Lourdes is more than just being a pilgrim”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2014

It's a nice walk to the cable car, great ride up and the views are spectacular - well worth the effort. Cafe and loos at the top with not much else but just great to relax and take in the views.

Breath-taking views of a wonderful place, from where one can see the whole of Lourdes. Simply fantastic! The trip with the funiculaire is a great experience!

“Wonderful view of lourdes, nice hike”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 June 2014

Enjoy beautiful lourdes village high from the hill. There is a small old cafe but nice and you can sit inside with a view deon the hill. As many other member said, it's worthed if just buy funicular ticket just to go up the hill. And hiking down to enjoy green lush surrounding and lourdes village.
Many cyclists bring their bike into the back of funicular , and cycling down the hill. Don't forget to bring your rain jacket in summer, because average rainy days are 2 of 3 days during our stay in lourdes.

“Lovely views but just an average tour”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 June 2014

Enjoyed the trip overall, and the vultures flying over the Pic were amazing, but sadly the walk at the top needed some attention. The summit was messy, and needed a tidy up. The very top had a mast with a derelict building, and the restaurant and toilets at the top of the funicular were not good. The toilets were disgusting. It attracts alot of tourists but got a bit crowded and rowdy with certain nationalities!!
