“Serene”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

This basilique is not to be missed on your visit to Rocamador. It was built in the 11th-13th century; late Romanesque with Gothic vaulting. The rear wall is actually the cliff face. It is cool and serene and well worth the time.

“Not to be missed”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

When in Rocamadour do not miss the Basilique St. Sauveur, on the way to St. Jaques of Compostela. Beautiful building, in the middle of the rocks, incredible views

“Interesting religious site with several chapels”
Reviewed 5 October 2013

Read up on the history of the town to maximise your visit to this religious complex and then you'll understand about the significance of the sword in the wall, the black virgin, the line paintings, etc. Many people visit this place daily and during our visit there were moments where tour groups cramped us out but they do tend to move on quickly. There are several interconnecting chapels but not all were open when we were there. If you have a pram, then you're best it park it somewhere and see this complex without it as there are plenty of stairs - and that's after taking the elevators.

“Holy times!”
Reviewed 12 September 2013

The church in Rocamadour is amazing. A must see regardless of faith. The history here is so rich and telling. Many visitors come here on a pilgrimage and word has it some climb up the steps to the church on their knees. some form of penitence i suppose. they also have the most incredible views here. As you drive into town you can see the cliffs of the town.

“Incredible but children should not be allowed”
Reviewed 25 July 2013

This was a spectacular site to view, even though I am not religious myself it was very moving to be at such a historical site from the 12th century. The discouraging part though is having screaming children running around with parents who don't manage them, and adults too who disrespect the "silence" signs and dress codes in the cathedrals. More respect should be had or security guards who actually enforce it and ask disruptive people to leave.
