“Unique and special night!”
Reviewed 21 May 2014

This was a truly memorable night in the company of our wonderful host Antoine. We were the only diners in the restaurant as we joined forces with the only other two guests, friends of the patron/chef, for an extraordinary evening of great food, rich conversation and good fun. Antoine works alone so you have the sense of entering someone's home but with the added beneit of superb food and cuisine. We started with foie gras and various charcuterie to share, followed by the most exquisite marinaded salmon, before succulent lamb shanks (cooked slowly in duck fat and then finished in a beautiful spice mix - subtle not overpowering) and a selection of desserts. I was treated to a half dozen oysters - the specialty of the house. Cocktails, wines and digestives equally excellent. Antoine is proficient in English and Italian (at least) but you may need to book as this is a one-man operation - one you will never forget if you are lucky enough to experience it!

“Like eating with friends”
Reviewed 1 January 2014

We chose this restaurant on the basis of previous reviews, as it seemed to have a certain charm with no pretension!

We arrived and found that there had been a party earlier in the day which had been late finishing, so the chef:patron was not quite ready for us. Nevertheless, he was very welcoming and we enjoyed a chat and a glass of wine while he tided up.

We chose to have the foie gras, which was exceptional and different charcuterie, that we had not tasted before and all of high quality and generous portions.

We also tasted the lamb shank and the prawns with risotto. The rice was not so good, but the prawns and the lamb shank were both tasty.

Excellent wines of reasonable price.

The other diners were all regulars and treated like old valued friends by the patron.

An interesting and enjoyable evening.

“Fantastic Host”
Reviewed 5 October 2013

Antoine...the chef, waiter-in-chief, host is very hospitable a very good chef with a very Gallic sense of humour. Had dinner on my first night there...toulouse sausage and an excellent parmesan risotto. Two nights later as I was walking past the restaurant, he recognises me and invites me in for a glass of wine and champagne ! Had a great end to my evening chatting over a glass or two...

“Excellent food and personalised service by the King of Oysters”
Reviewed 12 June 2013

This was the first time I visited this restaurant in Toulouse after having received a recommendation for the best oysters in town. I was not mistaken because the owner Mr Antoine Delavaux, aka The King of Oysters, made us feel at home from the first minute. We ordered oysters and sea food risottos which were exquisite. The best part of the evening was learning how to eat a live oyster without causing any undue suffering! This was a very exciting experience which I have shared on youtube. Just search "how to eat an oyster without hurting the animal". Value for money was good and I definitely recommend this restaurant to other passers by. Antoine is also fluent in English, Italian, Spanish and Albanian!
