“Perfect for a short stay”
Reviewed 13 November 2013

We stayed here in July, perfect if you are backpacking and looking to hit the city in 2/3 nights. The room was a bit dark and dingy but on the other hand it was clean enough and the beds were comfy. Not a place you want to stay in too long though for a relax but perfect for a quick in and out city stay handy as right opposite the train station. Friendly staff and good service and very good on a tight budget. The location is at the edge of the city centre and is not a great area however as the city is not very big at all you can walk everywhere. Some great markets in Toulouse on a Sunday.

This is an excellent place to stay for those on a moderate budget. It's a fairly plain hotel but it's decent, clean and well maintained, with very friendly, helpful staff. It's in a good location, close to the railway station and therefore easy to find and convenient for the airport shuttle bus which stops nearby. And if, whilst here, you’re planning to visit other towns or cities by train, the location couldn’t be better. Toulouse’s central square, Place du Capitole, is about 15 minutes walk away and the whole of the central area is accessible on foot. The hotel reception is reached from the ground floor entrance via a substantial stairway (no lifts) and rooms are reached via an attractive but rather dark spiral staircase which might make this hotel difficult for those with mobility problems. But if you're reasonably fit there's no problem. Rooms are plain but comfortable, with good air conditioning, TV and small en suite bathrooms. Although I was travelling alone, I chose a double room for sole use, on the basis that I was staying in Toulouse for five nights and therefore wanted a reasonably sized room. Breakfast was fairly basic (cereal, bread, pastries, yoghurt, etc) but adequate and reasonably priced. The street outside, Rue de Bayard, is not good for restaurants, being dominated either by traditional French cafe-bars or by ubiquitous fast-food outlets selling kebabs, burgers and pizzas. However, there are a couple of good bakery/patisserie shops nearby, as well as a good supermarket (Carrefour) which, amongst other things, sells sandwiches and pre-packed salads. If you want restaurants, walk down the length of Rue de Bayard and turn left into Boulevard Strasbourg. You might also try Rue Austerlitz, a little street between Bd Strasbourg and Place Wilson. Once you get your bearings you'll find plenty of places further afield. I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Des Ambassadeurs and would happily stay there again.

Hello,

I'm happy that you let a complet description of my hotel. And you are all right.
I bought this hotel in July, 2013 and I began to make some changes. For example if you come to stay again at our home you will see there is some lights everywhere ( entrance, reception, staircase, corridor, lane). It was a big construction work.
It's not finish, I carry on, and I listen of my clients and theirs good ideas!! Thank you

A group of us made reservations. I think the "Frugal Traveler" shout-out in the N.Y.Times was a big influence. Extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff (multi-lingual). They just don't have a lot to work with here. Building has perhaps seen better days. On the other hand, it is quite close to the train station. Yes, the rooms are small but one of our group was placed in a windowless room more like a cell or converted closet. Agog anyone would consider it rent-able. Not enough room to swing, much less a cat. They were sold out, so no change was possible. Not saying I wouldn't stay again, but I can say it wouldn't be my first choice, having stayed elsewhere on previous trips.
pro: close to trains, canal and bus, including bus to airport. Inexpensive. Fantastic staff.
con: gritty neighborhood. Your room might be a surprise. Ask to see the room first.

Room Tip: Ask to see the room first.

Follow your sat nav or what ever and you'll end up right outside it which is good. If you drive there they have parking available, I think it was 7 euros for the night. It is a few hundred meters down the street in an undergrounds car park that seems intended for the residents of the building above. Steep stairs as soon as you walk in to reach reception. Receptionists did the bare minimum to help us an seemed almost rude in their manner. Loads of dog turds all over the pavements nearby and a large amount of extremely scruffy, if not homeless people around. Room for the 3 of us was good. A/C worked great and beds were very comfy.

We stayed at this hotel for one night before our Canal du Midi trip and found it to be very well situated, 2 minutes from the station, about 10 minutes to the city’s attractions, and supermarkets and restaurants nearby. From the prompt email responses to my questions before our stay, to the actual duration of our visit, the reception staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Hotel is very good located in 5 minutes from Toulouse main train station and about 10-15 minutes walking from city centre and sigthseeings such as Cathedral, Place du Capitol and etc. Staff is very helpful, they help us with our luggage upstairs and then downstairs (no elevator). The room is very small, we have booked triple and the third bed was so close to double that it almost was a triple bed) the other things which irritated was the curtain in bathroom, which almost touch you during shower. Overall could be a good choice for budget travel and especially if you use train travel a lot.

Room Tip: I think it better to stay in double and single instead of triple.

In general, it was a very nice hotel /except the thickness of the walls/ with a very friendly staff. Location is quite good, 10 minutes to the city centre by walk, near the railway station, that is why some streeters were around.
