Arriving from Paris by route at 10pm I couldn't find a hotel room on Thursday night. The Caravelle had a triple left and couldn't be nicer about it. Excellent bed, impeccably clean, only three meager towels but the generous buffet breakfast compensated. The price was right - weekends are cheaper - and the staff was super nice and professional without being stiff.

I stayed for another two nights. It is near the train station where the TGV arrives, which is handy, but the Caravelle is way above what you would expect of a "hotel near the station". They have two stars but certainly are worth more. Some photos I took from my room balcony and around the station can be found by googling cerf, book and Toulouse. Next time in that beautiful city you know where I'll be.

By the way, in checking previous comments, I should add that they finished a total renovation this year so earlier negative critiques need to be taken with a grain of salt. And the folks from Hanoi with bicycles on the back of their car who complained about being charged 10 euros for use of the Caravelle's locked parking - give me a break. Every hotel in Toulouse does that and it is announced up front on the Caravelle's rate sheet.

Upon arrival, after a long day of travel and with our bicycles, we tried to check in. The male receptionist seemed to take a disliking to us or our bikes and proceeded to;
Try to charge us to park our bikes.
Sent us to the garage but didn't unlock the door so we had to return to reception.
Sent us to our room without validating our key so we had to return to reception.
Gave us a double room with just one pillow and one bath towel!
Apart from this the other staff were great, the room was comfortable and quiet, the location a bit ugly at night but fine and only a short walk to the nicer parts of town. Wifi worked well in the room too.

Good hotel. Well kept. Very good service. Reasonably priced. Just outside the historical and touristic area. Car parking available (10 euros/day), Would return anytime.

A very simple & honest hotel. Rooms are relatively old and modest (but with new beds, chairs, tables, flooring and flatscreen), worn but relatively clean and relatively spacious. I also had airco on the room, and a small balcony. Reception staff is very helpful, also when arriving in the middle of the night. There's an elevator, a small lobby and a breakfast room. Walking distance from the railwaystation and the busstation from where the airport shuttle leaves, and quite close to the centre.

There are plenty of hotels in this district, which does attract some 'women', but they behave very respectfully and keep their distance, even in the middle of the night. Even my young female colleagues felt perfectly safe at night.

This is a good budget option, and comes with the advantage of being in a quiet street so that you don't have to leave the window closed at night. You can have breakfast at the hotel, but there are also plenty of places around the hotel to have your croissant and coffee.

Descriptions misleading --- for cosy room read small, tacky. Bed had plastic covered mattress on small double bed not ideal on August night, that required balcony doors to be closed because of street noise. Breakfast was minimal, poor, overpriced. On the plus side --reception area good, reception staff ok, and generally clean.
