“Excellent location, lovely decor”
Reviewed 14 January 2014

Saw pictures of this hotel online, and knew I wanted to stay here. We were only visiting the city for a short weekend, and needed a base for the night.

The room was small but comfortable (if a little on the warm side). Reception staff were friendly and efficient. Despite the rest of the city being busy with rugby fans, it was fairly quiet here, and we were the only ones using the well stocked hotel bar.

We opted not to have breakfast in the hotel; although it looked pretty good set out in the bar area as we headed out in the morning.

The biggest benefit of the hotel is its location. Centrally situated, we were able to easily get the airport shuttle to and from the airport, with only a short work to the bus.

Staff were courteous and helpful. (Special thanks for saving us a lot of time at the airport with the tip on security!)

Great base for a weekend or a longer trip.

Right in the centre of the city, this hotel was a lovely find. Compared to some of the other hotels the overnight rate was really reasonable.
The hotel has no private carpark, but the underground public carpark is literally on the doorstep and we felt quite safe leaving ours there.
The rooms, eventhough on the small side, are really modern and quirky.
Spotlessly clean.
The reception area is a little bit 'futuristic', which made it feel a bit cold on arrival, but as we walked through the 'womb like' corridors, a bit too dark for my liking, the room most definitely put a smile on our face.

I have stayed here a few times on visits to Toulouse
It's a great find
A small but perfect Gem of a hotel
Perfectly situated in the centre and within walking distance from great shops/restaurants
Great value
Small but good rooms with a cute bathroom , it's great if you are not going to fill the rooms with bags
Staff are very friendly
There's an underground car park situated nearby which is very convenient
Altogether a cool and friendly place to stay

We wanted to stay in a central hotel in Toulouse. This hotel is perfectly situated in the Place of Capitol, the heart of the city. It is a nice hotel. We got a deluxe room but it was not so big. The bathroom is nice and clean. One more thing it is nice to stay in a building where St. Exupert lived is quite fascinating.

SO glad we only stayed one night in this hotel. Firstly if you're driving it's really difficult to arrive as it's on a pedestrian street and you're not sure whether you can enter or not, it's total madness. It's near the main square so it can get a lot noisy at night. Although we were very tired, the screams of young people after midnight made it very hard to sleep.

After leaving your luggage, you have to go to the public car park underground in the main square which is also difficult to reach (and expensive)

Rooms are adequately spacious and clean with a large bathroom which was nice after a not that nice night of sleep. The restaurant looked depressive. I wouldn't rate this as a four stars but three.

We stayed one night at Le Grand Balcon at the end of our holiday in the area. Actually we wish we had allowed more time for visiting Toulouse, as we didn't have time to explore all it had to offer. We stayed in room 114, which was an unusual but interesting shape as it was on the front corner of the hotel, with a fantastic view straight onto the main square. It would have been very spacious for two, but with the sofa bed in use for our son we did have to weave our way around the furniture a bit. The bathroom was very high spec, but it was slightly inconvenient that the toilet (without sink) was on the other side of the room from the bathroom. The room had neutral décor, but was saved from feeling corporate by having some quirky touches, such as clouds on the ceiling. Probably the biggest downside of our room was the noise from the street. We stayed Friday night and it was very noisy right outside our first floor window until at least 4am. It was lovely to have the view onto the square, but with hindsight we would have given that up for a quiet night. We had breakfast in the hotel, which was served in the stylish bar area and was very good. It was expensive but there was no charge for children, which was a nice touch. Overall, apart from the noise, it was a lovely room. The reception staff were also very friendly and helpful.

I've just spent 3 nights at La Balcon and it is pretty hard to fault. This is a very slick mid range boutique hotel about 100 feet from La Capitol. Great location for the museums, cathedrals and shopping. Very clean, great room cleaning, free wifi, glam Loewe TV with many English Channel options. Most importantly, at night the room was cool, dark and totally quiet. My only complaint is that the (two) basins are rather small and there is no place to store your wash bag. As for the 'there is no restaurant' comments below: If you are really a fan of hotel restaurants then perhaps Toulouse isn't for you. The food is amazing! BTW, the Abbiotoir museum is largely closed until the end of October, and just a shell of it is there. Good luck!
