We were running late and were exhausted by the time we arrived in Dunkerque, but were treated to a warm welcome when we finally pulled up at L'escale Malouine. Our room was small but very nicely decorated, spotlessly clean and the bed exceptionally comfortable. Then next morning we were treated to an excellent breakfast served with a smile. I cannot recommend this little B&B highly enough.

As others have said, parking is a bit tight. We were fortunate enough to find a spot across the road into which we could squeeze the car, otherwise we would have needed to park a couple of streets away.

Finally, as with many older houses, the stairs are a bit steep and shallow, so L'escale Malouine would not be suitable for those with mobility problems. Otherwise a perfect stop and one we would certainly use again.

Room Tip: Book early. This is such a little gem that it quickly books up year round. If they have a room, sn...

We stayed at L'escale malouine just for one quick night, before leaving to england but we really loved the place!
The room was very beautiful: well finished, fully equipped and very clean, and the owner is a loving and caring person!
It's in a very good location to reach Dunkerque and Calais ferry and just few minutes walking from the beach!
I would recommend!

We stayed at L'escale Malouine for one night in August, with friends. We wished we had time to stay longer. It is in an excellent location, close to the beach front and restaurants. The rooms are a delight, spacious, well-appointed, light. And Veronique was amazing. We arrived to a welcome of tea or, in the case of the men, a beer each. We stayed in the rooms overlooking the street (2nd and third floors), and they were great, noise, which we thought might have been an issue, was not. We highly recommend here, and ask Veronique about places to eat. She booked us in for an outstanding meal nearby.

Room Tip: We certainly enjoyed the ones overlooking the street.

We stayed just for just one night on the way home and, once in the road, it was easy to find. We were able to park nearby, but moved the car in front of the house in the early evening as it felt more secure. We were greeted by Veronique who was relaxed and welcoming. The rooms were elegant and larger than expected from the website, with the whole house feeling more spacious than can be indicated by photos.
Our room was rather warm overnight, as we had difficulty in opening the window at first.
Veronique suggested restaurants, of which there is a wide choice on the sea-front, an easy, short walk away.
Breakfast was the best continental breakfast I can remember, with a variety of foods and drinks, including freshly cooked pancakes if we wanted. There was an impressive quantity and quality of food offered, bearing in mind the limited number of guests.
On departure, Veronique wanted to make sure we knew our way back to the ferry and offered to print a map if we needed.
If you need an overnight stay in the area, this is highly recommended. 5/5 barely does it justice!Dunkerque isn't the prettiest of towns, but for our purposes it suited us well and we found our way back to the A16 more easily than our arrival with satnav.

We stayed two nights here and wished we could have stayed longer! Veronique is the perfect hostess and greeted us with smiles, perfect English and a very welcome beer (or anything we wanted) on our arrival. The rooms are beautiful, very stylish, with everything we needed. We stayed in the top room with the little balcony and the fantastic old bath. We slept like stones and were treated to plentiful continental style breakfast every morning. The location is great.. out of the main town but only a walk away. Very close to the beach and lots of bars and eateries.

I was trying to find a reason to go back to Dunkerque but knowing there is a place like this to stay there, I don't think we need a reason to go back.. we just will.

Just back from a 2 night stay with my parents - we had the 2 rooms at the top (2nd floor) which was great because it was like being in one house which suited my 2 children! One room was smaller and more modern whilst the other was older but more spacious and rustic. Both were lovely, and had a kettle and cups which is always nice.

The breakfast was really good, with a wide variety and even fresh crepes and pineapple one morning.

The area was fine with plenty of on street parking, the beach is really close, as is everything you need.

The owner, Veronique, is lovely - she made us so welcome and was really helpful, and to be honest, it was her friendliness which made the place. We didn't ralise at the time but you can book her to cook in the evening which would have been perfect for us.

If we return to that area, we would definitely go back to this B&B.
