We booked throught Otel.com who usually do an excellent job for us but this time we received a "standard room" which was located on the 4th floor in what felt like an attic! The hallway was dark and dingy and the room was small and uncomfortable. The bathroom was very nice and the hotel itself is quite beautiful, but when the hotel was not even very busy - why offer my an upgrade at 30 euro per night when the hotel would have fostered much better in recommendations had they just given us a decent room. So many rooms went unfilled. By the by, the restaurant staff for the morning buffet were very cheerful but the evening staff for the restaurant were unfriendly. While the location to center Lille was excellent and walkable, I would not stay at this hotel again.

The hotel was nice and clean, the location also very convenient to go to places around it by walking. The room was nice and quiet and the breakfast buffet was good.

We had a short citytrip in Lille and chose Couvent des Minimes. Location was great, near the city center. My boyfriend has coeliakie and I asked for gluten free bread and they served it at breakfast! We apppreciated this a lot! Also an amount of organic products for breakfast! Neat room but with a few minors: window didn't close well and the shower missed a piece so you could not hang it. We slept well and the staff was really helpfull.

We have just had a lovely mini break in Lille, France, staying at the Couvent des Minimes hotel. What a beautiful building this is. We arrived early and were offered an upgrade to a superior room for 30 € per night extra. We took up the offer and had a wonderful room. Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent. We ate out in Lille at various places - all good. We had one dinner in the restaurant, choosing from the Alliance menu, which was excellent and extremely good value for money. Most evenings we sat in the bar enjoying a drink and listening to the pianist. The staff in the hotel were all very pleasant and helpful both at reception and in the restaurant. Assistance was given setting up wifi service and it was no problem when we needed to order a taxi. The hotel is quite close to the centre and an easy walk. Eurallile is about 20 minutes stroll away and a shopper's paradise! Almost on the doorstep to the hotel is a lovely park which we visited several times for a very pleasant peaceful walk. We are looking forward to another visit.

Room Tip: Accept the upgrade to superior room.

We had an overnight stop in this hotel on the way down to Strasbourg. The setting was really nice - we requested a room overlooking the water - although this is not too much of a positive comment as it was only a small expanse of water - and it was within easy walking distance of the town centre. We loved the decor and the staff were on the whole very friendly. We only had an aperitif in the hotel (paying three times as much as we could have done outside) but the surroundings were delightful. We were up very early for breakfast the next morning so there was plenty of choice. Parking was a bit of a problem but we only have a small car and managed to squeeze it in.

Having stayed at this hotel on numerous occassions on business, we decided to spend a long weekend break last weekend. What a disappointment! Whilst on the whole the staff were freindly and helpful, the food (normally the star attraction) was average by any standard. Don't go to breakfast after 09.30. The hot food was gone and after a lot of sighing and rolling of eyes, the staff finally agreed to produce some more for the numerous guests who were still waiting. The cleanliness of the furniture in the restaurant was appalling with stains down the back of the chairs and a reluctance to change table clothes after the previous occupants had left irrespective of the condition.
On arrival there was no record of our booking even though we had printed a copy of the confirmation. This was not a problem however as there were plenty of spare rooms, and we were quickly allocated a room on the first floor. The room was very dark (view of brick walls and 2 sides) and very tired. The main issue was noise.Throughout the night we were woken by shouting and various other noises including bottles being emptied into rubbish bins at 3am, culminating in the rubbish bins being wheeled across the cobbled courtyard at 5am when the dust cart arrived.
We complained about the noise the following morning and asked to change our room. Remarkably the hotel had mysteriously filled up since we checked in the previous evening and so we were told this would not be possible and had to endure another night of being continually disturbed by the noise. On check out we then discovered we also had to pay for the hotel car park!
All in all a very disappointing experience and I will not be staying here again either for business or pleasure.

Room Tip: We were in room 120 our friends in 119. who also experienced the same noise problem. Avoid rooms on...

We stayed here for one night in a standard room on the second floor overlooking the bar/restaurant. As the heating kept on working, the room was too hot. Fortunately we had air-conditioning but this made some noise. We believe the price was a bit high for the room we got.
The setting on the other hand is very nice, only a short walk from the city center. The staff was very friendly and we were happy we were able to park the car next to the hotel. The drinks in the bar are indeed quite expensive but we ate in the restaurant and we found it no more expensive than in other (better) restaurants. The food was splendid, the service excellent.
We were also offered an upgrade for 30 euro but we rather spend this kind of money on a good meal than to pay for a room you only go to to sleep.
