“Brilliant Bayeux (and beaches)!”
Reviewed 14 November 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We stayed for four nights in this wonderfuly located townhouse right in the Centre of Bayeux. Charlotte introduced us to the property and her welcome pack was very much appreciated. The property is ideally located for visiting the Normandy beaches and coastal sights.
Bayeux itself is simply stunning. We spent all our evenings eating out in the fabulous selection of restaurants which are all situated on the doorstep of the property.
The property has everything one needs to enjoy a pleasant stay and it even has a lovely outdoor area perfect for reading a book and sipping a glass of wine.

“Wonderful way to see Bayeux and Normandy”
Reviewed 16 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

This wonderful French shabby chic gite with all mod-cons is in the heart of Bayeux. Everything is within walking distance. The owner, Charlotte, met us at the gite and showed us around and recommended several good places to visit and eat. As it was October the weather was chilly but the Gite was warm, comfortable and clean. Bayeux is a wonderful, beautiful place and within easy driving distance of most attractions. There is parking on the road outside the gite but must be paid for but a few roads down the parking is free. We had a lovely stay in Bayeux made easier by staying at this Gite.

“Perfect location, Hidden Jewel!”

We stayed for 6 nights in this lovely town house. It is secluded behind a charming blue door on a small side street next to the Cathedral. First of all, let me say that Charles and Charlotte were perfect hosts. Charles met us with some goodies and a quick tour of the place. I found it to be clean and organized. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen well appointed. There is a lovely courtyard that would be great during spring or summer. There is a small Carrefour just a few blocks away. Because you are in the middle of the old town, you can walk just about everywhere. We were able to use paid parking just outside our door and for a couple of oldtimers, that made things very easy. We have been to Bayeux several times and found 8 Laitiere to be an outstanding spot to stay when visiting Bayeux. The bells from the cathedral and the seagulls were just lovely. Close to restaurants, museums, and shopping. Absolutely perfect! I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Thanks Charles and Charlotte!

“An absolutely perfect place”

We stayed for a week in this charming and delightful townhouse. Charlotte was an outstanding hostess who went to great lengths to make us feel comfortable and welcome in an impeccably clean home. Located in the centre of Bayeux, it is mere steps away from sightseeing, museums, tour pick-ups, dining and shopping. The cathedral, (do not miss), is right around the corner. The house itself, with a deep courtyard in an idyllic setting, is peacefully quiet with a level of privacy normally only found in the countryside. It was everything promised and more with a well appointed kitchen, cozy living room and two very comfortable bedrooms. I should mention the shower is outstanding. We dined in on some evenings after a day of touring, made even more convenient by having a well-stocked Carrefour within a couple of minutes walking. We toured Le Mont St. Michele and the Normandy coast with tours departing Place de Quebec. Once you find the shortcut, (right across the street from from the entrance to the house), it is no more than a two minute walk. We would highly recommend 8 Rue Laitiere to anyone wishing a quiet, secluded stay in a charming city. Thank you, Charlotte and Charles, for sharing this wonderful spot with us and for being such wonderful hosts. It is a memorable highlight of our stay in France. Dave and Cheryl, Victoria, BC, Canada

“Perfect House in Perfect Location”

We felt so lucky to have chosen this delightful house in the heart of historic Bayeux. It really is exceptional - we are already planning a second visit.
The sunny, quiet and secluded flower-filled courtyard garden is perfect for breakfast or drinks before strolling along the street for dinner. The spire of the magnificent cathedral rises over the courtyard wall, and the chiming bells add to the sensation that you are living in the best of all possible worlds. The bells are silenced in the evening and begin again at about 9am, so your peaceful sleep in very comfortable beds isn't disturbed.
The house itself is so lovely - well equipped, charmingly and sympathetically decorated and comfortable.Thoughtful touches included wine, fruit and chocolate left by our lovely hosts Charles and Charlotte, wifi, English tv, a dvd player, a selection of books, dvds and cds, a cafetiere ( French press), an excellent new shower, a washing machine and tumble dryer and parking available outside or nearby.
Everything you might want to see in this amazing town is just around the corner from the house ; the 11th century cathedral, the Tapestry completed around 1076, trips to the D-Day beaches, half-timbered mediaeval houses, the river, the markets, excellent cafes, shops and restaurants, patisseries, even a little department store and supermarket. The tourist office is very helpful and is the starting point for an excellent walking tour of old Bayeux ( in English).
If you wish to visit Normandy, we believe you could not possibly choose a better place to stay. A marvellous house and location in a stunningly beautiful town.

“Great place in a fabulous town”
Reviewed 27 May 2016 for a stay in September 2014

Myself and 3 friends stayed at Rue Laitiere for 2 weeks in September 2014 while we attended the World Equestrian Games in Caen. Bayeux was a perfect location to base ourselves, with its easy train access to Caen and proximity to the D day beaches and other delights of Normandy. I was blown away at how beautiful the town was and our villa at 8 Rue Laitiere was the icing on the cake! Right in the centre of town, in the shadow of the Cathedral. The place was clean and inviting and suited our needs perfectly, with its 2 separate bedrooms, kitchen, laundry and free wifi. Charlotte, the owner, was the perfect host, prompt to respond to enquiries, friendly and helpful. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat and plan to go back one day and check out more of beautiful Normandy.
