Manoir des Doyens is a perfect British beachhead in the middle of Normandy. The inn, it's charming hosts Rosemary and the Colonel, and peaceful setting provide for a rich experience. The inn is cosy, very much like staying with relatives and perfect for the price. The daily continental breakfast has local fresh assorted breads, pastries, homemade jams, fresh fruit and spirited conversation. Wide ranging discussions and helpful excursion advise (before arriving too) abound. The many repeat guests around the table are helpful too and further evidence of the success of the Inn. Be sure to tour their D-day map room. A must.
Easy access to the WWII sites, Bayeux, Caan, the coast, the Cider Trail, and Mont St Michel. Plenty of dinner options but our fav was getting bread, cheeses, ciders, wine, etc and having dinner in the Inn's garden among the geese and sheep. Perfect!
Stay here. It is a historic inn in France and an easy visit. Yes, your room will not be airbrushed cleaned easy day but it's plenty clean, and a simple appetizer for feasting on Normandy.More
