We took the full day tour of the Normandy beaches and battlefield areas the week before the 70th anniversary celebration. Our guide Kate Pape was wonderful, knowledgeable, and patient with us. We saw Utah and Omaha beaches, the American Cemetery, Pointe du Hoc, and Sainte Mere Eglise, with plenty of time at each stop, including a very pleasant beachside lunch stop. The information and history that Kate provided made the trip much better that had we been touring alone. I highly recommend this tour.

Wow - so much to see and only one day to do it. Philipe picked up the 8 of us at our ship in LeHarve - In the next 8 hours he did an amazing job describing the history and the details that you have never heard about the days leading to June 6, June 6, and the days afterwards. Do NOT try to be your own guide (or your own brain surgeon or lawyer) because only someone who has dedicated their life to learning the history is capable. We saw many of the key sites - Bayeux, Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery. You can not image what happened on D Day without seeing the coast line, cliffs, bluffs, gun batteries, etc. The cemetery was very emotional and moving - everyone in our group left with tears in our eyes. My best advice is to devote as much time as possible to the Normandy coast and contract with a top notch tour operator like Normandy Sightseeing Tours and getting a first class guide like Philipe who had a personal connection to the battle. Be prepared for walking on dirt paths.

We coordinated a group of 23 people from a cruise ship in Le Havre for a 10 hour tour of Normandy. Normandy Sightseeing Tours was a pleasure to deal with to organize the tour. Our guide, David Basnier, was outstanding. He was extremely knowledgeable about every place we went during the day and could answer any question in great detail. He had a book with pictures to help illustrate his points. We decided on a picnic lunch so he took us to a place were we could buy things for lunch at a very reasonable price (about $5 per person). Everyone had a great time. We had enough time to stop at Bayeax on our way back, and David was able to get those who wanted into the Bayeux Tapestry ahead of a long line.

Sunny was a knowledgeable tour guide. She picked my wife and I up in a van with several other people at our hotel in Bayeux. We spent the day visiting the German cemetery, Sainte Mère Eglise and Airborne Museum, Utah and Omaha beaches, Pointe du Hoc, and the American cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer.

I went on the Omaha beach sector half day tour which consisted of a visit to point du hoc, Omaha beach dog sector (Featured within saving private ryan) and the american war cemetary at Omaha. Omaha beach is one of five invasion beaches within normandy. Two being American and 3 being used by Commonwealth forces.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful and really set the scene for each location. He displayed amazing knowledge of the battles within normandy and the strategic and political context.

Point du hoc is amazing with full access to the real bunkers and gun emplacements for photos. The location where the Ranger battalion scaled the cliff is also accessable.

Omaha Beach is an amazing sight as it demonstrates the huge challenges the allies faced during the initial stages trying to gain a foothold within france. It was a privelage to visit these sights.

Because there is so much to see I would recommend a full day tour or more to make the most of the region.
