“Fantastic experience, history brought to life”
Reviewed 9 December 2009

I'd really recommend Battle of Normandy Tours - it's run by an Irish guy called Ed who has an incredible enthusiasm for his subject and is able to provide detailed information about the the Normandy invasion in a highly entertaining way. What I especially appreciated was his ability to point out battlefield objects now being used as everyday objects - eg WW2 aircraft landing mesh used as fencing. Ed has an amazing local knowledge and is able to take you off the beaten track a little, away from the obvious sites - this makes for a very personal tour. He was very accommodating and helpful, as well as being extremely well read about his subject. Well worth it.

“the man has incredible insight ....”
Reviewed 2 December 2009

Edward has an incredible insight and knowledge of the history surrounding the Battle Of Normandy, he clearly has something only an individual with a life long passion for the subject could posess. His Irish sense of humour and his own little stories complement the factual basis of his tours and add to the overall charm. He had proper answers to every question, just like it was being read straight out of the reference book inside his brain and I can recommend this to anyone who is planning a tour. I only had time for a one day tour with him. This was my second visit to the area but because Ed Robinson was our guide this time, I got to see and learn much than expected and it was a far better experience than the previous big tour operator I used a couple of years before. Unforgettable. Highly recommended

“Tremendous tour of American Beaches, Pointe du Hoc, and plenty of extras...”
Reviewed 24 November 2009

Myself, and 3 other American colleagues went on two half day tours with Ed Robinson in November, 2009. I would strongly recommend a tour with Ed. Ed was very accommodating with our difficult travel schedule and per our request, really ran us around to see everything possible during our stay. His in depth knowledge of Omaha Beach, Utah Beach, Pointe du Hoc, and the surrounding paratrooper drop zones was extensive, and with English as his first language, he was able to passionately convey the history to us.

Can't go wrong with this tour!

“Best Guide Around”
Reviewed 7 October 2009

I highly recommend Edward Robinson for any tours of Normandy but especially for the highlights of the American Beaches. My family and I only had one day to see as much as we could, and it seemd like Ed was able to show us a week's worth of sites in one day. He picked us up at our hotel and took us straight to St. Mere Elise and showed us exactly where Easy Company of the 101st Airborne (Band of Brothers) landed the night before the invasion. Ed has actually given multiple D-Day tours to members of Easy Company so he has lots of inside info that adds to the experience. He knew which of the D-day museums were worth going to and which ones were full of touristy junk. Even while we were waiting for our lunch to arrive at a restaurant in Utah Beach (Roosevelt's) Ed was giving us first hand acocunts of what actually happened all along the coast on D-day. He showed us hidden Nazi bunkers that are way off the beaten path gave kept everyone in the entire family thoroughly entertained. We would like to come back and have Ed show us the British beaches, Caen and possibly even a "Battle of the Bulge" tour through Belgium (which he does).

Ed's web site is: www.BattleofNormandytours.com and his email is [--]

“This tour made the D-day landings and the Battle of Normandy come alive”
Reviewed 6 October 2009

Ed Robinson spent two days with us that told us more than we ever expected. He is a walking encyclopedia. He knew all the books we had read, and more. He has a wicked Irish sense of humor. The best thing he did was have us stand in a location and whip out a picture from the landings or battleground duplicating the scene, telling us the complete story. He explained all the problems the allies faced, including paratroopers, gliders, bombers, ships, weather, tides, ports, the construction methods of German bunkers, use of machine gun nests, and gun emplacements. He showed us both the major places of the Battle of Normandy and the smallest details, i.e. tracing the direction of bullets that hit cast iron fences. He has met soldiers who were there. He was also helpful in giving advice about trains from Paris and hotels at Bayeux, a lovely little historic town near the beaches. His web site is www.BattleofNormandytours.com, or [--]
