“Bayeux Beauty”

Had a very large superior deluxe room, nicely decorated, plenty of space, not in the main part of the hotel. Bathroom was extra large, newer tile and fixtures, plenty of mirrors with nice amenities. Great location in town and room was quiet even though street has lots of traffic. The restaurant dinner was great. The Salt Marsh Lamb, speciality of area, was particularly tender and the apple pastry dessert with caramel sauce was dreamy. Staff helpful to set up tour of Normandy and make other dinner recommendations. Library off of the lobby was very comfortable with fire place, leather chairs, pictures of famous people who have stayed there, bar and books to read. Windows facing the front of the hotel entrance, added extra charm to this room. If you want to visit Normandy, but also looking for a historic town, this is a good choice. Train station 5 minutes away by car. Easy trip from Paris. Visit the Tapestry Museum (can be done in 1 hour) the cathedral, new bell made for 70th anniversary of WWII 70th celebration. Lots of restaurants, closed Sunday and some on Monday.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The rooms are comfortable if not the most elegant, but it was the ambience and the friendliness of the staff that made it stand out. Charming! We had a parking place reserved for us, the staff spoke English and put up with my inadequate French. The breakfast buffet was wonderful and the restaurant outstanding! We had a leisurely 2 1/2 hour dinner that was the gastronomic highlight of our trip. Tucked away in Bayeux, I recommend it highly!

The reception staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is older and might need some renovations. There are tons of photos from WWII which are interesting and add to the charm.
There is no elevator, so be prepared to walk a few flights of stairs. The breakfast was good, but a bit costly. Our room was adequately furnished and clean. There was an amazing view of the courtyard and the cathedral from our window. The location is good. It was nice to have a parking spot, even if there was an extra daily charge. I thought this hotel was good...not great (which it could be with a few updates and changes). Also there is no a/c. Not a problem when we were there in May, but wouldn't want to be there in hot weather.

Room Tip: If stairs are a problem, ask for a room on a lower floor. A courtyard view is quite nice. There are...

Stayed at this hotel as part of a cycling tour which included visits to numerous Normandy attractions. Bayeux was a great central location for day trips as well as a delightful attractions itself; Bayeux tapestries (a wonderfully done presentation), WWII museum, cathedral. Town easy to walk around in with yummy restaurants. Easy cycling to coast and WWII attractions there. Hotel is not new, but fits into the area with historic charm and comfort. It was a base for BBC journalists and has a lovely bar with signed pictures of many historic figures from that era. The breakfast was generous and tasty. Our group had a special three-course meal (with wine) which was delicious. Courtyard had tables with umbrellas for before dinner cocktails and socializing. Rooms were clean and roomy enough with sufficient storage shelves. Beds were acceptable. No elevator but since we were on an exercise (cycling) tour that wasn't an issue. We opened our window at night but when the light was on, it did attract insects (no screens).

This hotel was the BBC home base during WW2. The bar is full of pictures from WW2 era.
Nice, simple, french country hotel that is perfect for seeing the Bayeux tapestries (a must), cathedral, WW2 museum and local history museum. Great place to bike from into the countryside.

Restaurant breakfast and dinner is quite nice. Wine selection quite nice for being away from a major city. Be patient with the bar service. Reception staff doubles as the bar staff.

Agree with other com mentors...no AC in May/June is not a problem. No elevator isn't a major drawback either.

This hotel is not bad, but it's better days are past. While Eisenhower may have stayed here, we think there are better choices for us. Our room was up three flights of stairs, as there is no elevator. The building was built as a hotel, I believe, but our room had little sound proofing. We heard two different neighbors using their bathrooms in the evenings and mornings. The bed was not as comfy as in other European hotels we've visited, too soft and sages. You get the picture. On the plus side, our room was larger than many, and bright, breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly and eager to please. But this didn't make up for the ordinary accommodations. I'll close with a comment on location. If you want to be in the tourist area, this is a good place. Several bars and pizza places right outside. But that is not our thing, so it was not a plus for us. We loved Bayeux, however.

Had a lovely stay at this hotel recommended by the local tourist office in Bayeux. The town presents a great light show at night and there are plenty of local street cafes in the area. You can also find free parking on one of the many side streets. The hotel has a nice restaurant and a beautiful courtyard for relaxing after a meal.
