This is a hotel hidden in the center of the town. The young hostess who registered us was warm and welcoming. When the weather is nice, don't miss the wine and cheese in the backyard garden of the main building. The room was old-fashion but well appointed. A little more light would have added to the charm. Parking was free. We used this hotel while we were visiting Normandy. Our room was on the first floor right next to the parking lot which made it a little noisy if you keep the window open. I agree that this resembled a large B&B in many ways.

Room Tip: Get a room on the upper floor away from the parking area.

This hotel is reminiscent of a large B&B - they have a nice breakfast, a lovely atmosphere, and warm staff. The location is in the heart of the town, making it easy for anyone to traverse back and forth from the city to the hotel. When we first arranged our trip to Normandy, we planned on staying for one night but later changed it to two nights. The hotel, however, was very accommodating to the change of schedule. The rooms were of great quality - warm blankets, a fluffy pillow, and a soft mattress. However, keep in mind that each room, family rooms included, only allow one device to use the wifi at a time. The bathrooms were quite spacious, much to our surprise. In the single room we had stayed in the first night, there had been a shower, sink, and toilet, but in the family room, there were a bath, sink, and toilet. The family room arrangement is not like the typical "suite" format. Despite there being two main rooms, each room had a bed - one with two twin-sized and one with just one queen-sized. The rooms were of nice quality, even coming with a fireplace and big windows to look out over the the lovely gardens, along with a TV in one of the rooms. The single room had similar amenites - TV, window, bed, etc. The breakfast, each morning, was delightful. It had a wide array of food for the pickiest eater and the complete omnivore. The service, in addition, was very helpful. Most of the staff spoke English and accommodated the language barrier. Overall, we highly recommend this hotel for simply a single person or an entire family.

My husband and I spent five days at this establishment in June 2013, and it was truly a wonderful experience. The hotel was very clean, the rooms are a good size, the bathroom was updated, and hot water was available throughout the day (a VERY good thing if you are from America). Turn down service is offered every day.

A delicious continental breakfast is served every day, and you can easily walk to many of the local tourist sites. The staff is extremely helpful and kind. Their help was especially appreciated when there was a railroad strike, which delayed our departure.

Overall, this is a fantastic boutique hotel that I wouldn't hesitate to stay at again.

We loved this little boutique hotel!! It had comfy beds and pillows, delicious and satisfying breakfasts in a beautifully ornate dining room, and scrumptious coffee on the beautifully landscaped patio. The dining room staff even provided us with complimentary coffee service one morning to two British friends whose acquaintance we met while in Bayeux. The staff was friendly and helpful, traits greatly appreciated by us Texans!!! My husband and I were in Europe celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary. It was a great launching pad for our very impressive tour of Normandy and Utah Beach, where my husband's father landed during D Day plus One. Also the Hotel was also a great base from which to see the Bayeux Tapestry, which tells of William the Conqueror, my 24th Great Grandfather. So much history in this area!!!

Room Tip: We had a room with two twin beds conveniently located right next to the secure back parking lot, in...

I made this recommendation after my younger sister raved about visiting Caen and Bayeux, and going on a D Day Tour. We took the train from Paris to Caen, rented a car and stayed in this Gem of a Bed and Breakfast. Be sure and have wine and cheese on the outdoor porch, where the fresh air, and birds singing nearby are so relaxing. Comfortable, yet smallish rooms, with a ultra modern shower, complete with heated towel rack. Extensive breakfast of meat, cheeses, yogurt and bread in the morning for $13€

Be sure and get written direction to this locale if traveling by private car.

Room Tip: Loved the ivy covered lodge next to the main building

I spent 2 nights at Hotel d'Argouges with my husband and parents at the end of May. Upon arrival we were excited as the excellent location within the town, reserved parking and lovely common areas all set a very nice and welcoming tone. However, our excitement was quickly dashed when we entered our room. The room itself was nothing special and in my opinion quite tired and in need of a facelift. We had a view over the garden which was charming and the room was quiet. The bathroom had been modernized but the linens were thin and cheap and plastic cups never make a good impression. The staff was exceptional and made our time at Hotel d'Argouges quite pleasant but we wish the room appointments were of a higher quality. As a result, we spent time in the evening in the lobby foyer rather than our room. Oh, and we loved visiting with the resident French Bulldogs!

Bayeux is ideal for exploring the Normandy D-Day towns and beaches and the hotel is well located within the town. It is easy to walk everywhere. I would encourage visitors to take the time to see the Bayeux Tapestry. Seeing this amazing artwork in person was an unexpected highlight of our time there and an interesting compliment to the D-Day experience.

Room Tip: I saw two rooms, both of the same quality.

Like many European hotels, this one is in a converted 18th century mansion built by nobility. Our room was small, again typical, but quite comfortable and quiet - a priority for us. We would sometimes hear neighbors come to their rooms in the evenings, but not a sound otherwise! Room was clean, and two twin beds very comfortable. Lovely private gardens in back, bathroom modern and nice. Staff was lovely, eager to please, and very nice breakfast (included). Also included is free off-street parking. We also loved the location, more natural and authentic than other locations in the middle of the tourist areas (bars and pizza joints). For example, this hotel is near a bank, self-serve laundry, and two bakeries all frequented by locals. And in the parking lot across the street they had a huge farmers market on Saturdays. So you see, it really adds to the feel of the European experience.

Room Tip: No lift, so take care.
