Reviewed 11 August 2012

We stayed overnight and as we were eating in Bayeux town, didn't really have time to enjoy the chateau to the full. Reception was efficient and welcoming, the room was excellent with a wonderful bathroom and the setting was lovely.
It wasn't cheap for room only at 150 Euros but the pleasant grounds, free wifi and overall ambiance impressed us.
We could have walked to the centre of town but decided on a taxi that was approximately 8 Euros each way.
There is lots of parking, plenty of seating areas in the grounds and if returning to Bayeux, would happily stay a the Chateau de Bellefontaine again.

Room Tip: We upgraded to a superior room and it was very pleasant indeed

Stayed here for three nights early July '12. Hotel is in a glorious setting and only a 15 minute saunter to Bayeux. Very quiet and peaceful despite a main road being very close by.
Lovely spacious room, and a fantastic bathroom - bit of damp round the window but that's nit picking!!
Breakfast was lovely, lots of choice but the service with the coffee/tea was a little slow. If we return to this area we will definitely stay here again

The hotel is located in a Chateau or mansion not very far from downtown Bayeaux. The room was nice with a good bathroom. We didn´t have the breakfast there buta ll the hotel looked quite good. Do not expect a Relais&Chateau but it is a good choice for the price. There is a lot of parking place in the premises and it is a pleasant place while visiting the D day shores, museum and American Cemetery.
We arrived by car and was quite easy to get to the Chateau. Everything is quite close by car, roads are very good, and getting to the different places quite easy.
Also Bayeaux is a very pretty town with the Bayeaux Tapestry Museum worth visiting.
The staff was helpful and courteus.

Spent 2 nights here nice and peacefull, only a few minutes from the centre of Bayeux, pleasant staff and large buffet breakfasts. Room was clean and quiet with a well stocked mini bar, there is a liift which saved having to carry case upstairs. The nicely lawned gardens with stream running through and the swans and various ducks made for a peaceful setting, there is also a tennis court available. Visited bayeux to see the tapestry and cathedral. Then to Arromanches with its D Day exhibition centre about 20mins away by car. Next day drove to Versailles about 2hrs 30mins to visit the Palace.

My husband and I stayed at the Chateau de Bellefontaine for two nights. It was a wonderfully memorable experience. The Chateau is well located, within walking distance from Bayeux and the Bayeux Tapestry Museum, and with easy access to the Normandy D day beaches. The staff at the hotel are very nice and helpful. The Chateau and surroundings are very special. An oasis of tranquility! The Chateau, a completely renovated 18th century mansion, is very appealing with its lovely lounge and impressive fireplace, its sunlit breakfast room looking out onto a lush lawn, and its spacious guestrooms. Our room, number 6, was very large and well cared for, nicely detailed, in hues of brown and beige/ivory.... elegant wallpaper...with a splendid view of the front lawn. The bathroom was very clean, with a wonderful tub, and a large window facing the back lawn. The grounds of the chateau are absolutely beautiful! Tree shaded deep green water flows through the grounds, under a little stone bridge, and around the back of the chateau. Poplar trees, willows, varied other trees, and pretty groupings of flowers please the eye. A swan and his mate and the most unusual and striking ducks that I have ever seen are residents here and fascinate and delight. A marvelously serene place to relax after a long day of touring! Outstanding!

Rooms were spacious and clean. Walking distance of the train station, but most will want to spend the 3 to 6 euros for a 4 minute cab ride. We walked into town a every morning to explore the town or catch our tour to the sites of Normandy. (10 to 15 min walk to town center). Very quiet and peaceful, well appointed. Lovely grounds. If needing a place to stay for a night or two I highly recommend. Staff is fluent in English and was helpful in every way. Wifi Internet is available and free, just pick up user ID and password at the front desk. Continental breakfast is available, but we did not sample as Bayeax had too many choices we wanted to try for breakfast.

Stayed here for one night, while passing through Normandy. Quite a nice place. Lovely grounds (with swans and probably a half dozen other varieties of ducks, guinea hens, etc. around), very nice rooms with nice bathrooms. Breakfast was good -- not included in the price though (but I knew that ahead of time, which had been fully disclosed on the web site and in my booking.com reservation). Overall, a very nice place with real character.
