“The perfect home base for D-Day sites”
Reviewed 22 July 2011

I can't say enough about the hospitable service and fantastic location of the Hotel Churchill. Not to mention the World War II memorabilia covering the walls! Breakfast was fantastic. The rooms were clean, modern, large and comfortable. The staff accomodated our every wish. Bayeux was the perfect location for our tours of the D-Day beaches and museums. Loved the town and the people so much, I may be back!

We stayed at Hotel Churchill for two nights in July. The hotel is wonderful - very clean and right in the heart of Bayeux. It was a perfect place to stay while visiting the beaches and area. We had one of our best french meals in Bayeux - such a lovely town.

In Bayeux, an area where there are several historic hotels, this is a perfect gem. It is within easy walking distance of the beautiful gothic cathedral and the Bayeux Tapestry museum. It's a perfect location for a walking tour of Bayeux and the many interesting features of this ancient city. Plus they even provide a map to help make sure you don't miss anything. Nearby are many fine as well as casual restaurants. The rooms are big and airy, the staff welcoming and the ambience charming. Two added perks, there are nearby laundry facilities and parking right there. I can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: We shared the ground floor room right by the desk. It is huge! Because it opens right at the desk sq...

This was the best hotel we stayed in while on a two-week vacation in England and France. We were in Bayeux for 2 nights while touring Normandy. The staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast was delicious, and the rooms were very nice. Normandy tour companies pick up directly behind the hotel, too. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again in the future.

A must stay for anyone touring Normandy and the beaches. Historical photos line the walls. My nephew didn't know if we were checking into a hotel or a museum. Friendly staff and owners. Very proud of their corner of the world. Rightfully so. Great breakfast, Convenient to get you started for a day of touring. Staff sing bon jour to you. Internet available for fee.

Room Tip: More rooms available next year. AMEX too

We just returned from a one week stay at the Hotel Churchill in Bayeux, France. This hotel is an awesome place to use as a base for Day Days tours, seeing Mont St. Michele or just spending time in a wonderfull small French town.

The Churchill is in the center of town, restaurants, the market and shops are right outside the door. The hotel has a mix of old and modern charm from the warm reception area, filled with antique woods and leather chairs to the sunny modern breakfast area, where you can eat, use your computer or have a drink. The hotel has many D day photos on the walls for the history buffs to view. There is also a patio outside with tables and chairs to enjoy the weather. Our room had a comfortable bed, nice sound tight windows and good curtains if you like to sleep a bit. The bath was newly done and I think we had fresh new sheets everyday!

The staff was cordial and accomodating. We would stay here again in a minute. My husband's only request would be to have a fridge in the room. We loved our stay at the Churchill and the town as well! Charming!

We stayed 2 nights at Hotel Churchill while in Bayeux to see DDay landing beaches. This is a perfect location, close to areas of interest. Bayeux itself is charming, and the Hotel Churchill is the perfect accomodation. We were traveling with 2 adult daughters so we had 2 adjoining rooms which gave us plenty of space for comfort. The rooms were clean, and furnishings were adequate. We especaially enjoyed the lounge in the evening to sit together to make plans for the next day, play cards while sipping the local brandy. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast at the hotel was a convenient and good start to the day. Free WiFi would have been appreciated, we chose not to purchase internet access. We chose to see the Peace Memorial in Caen, and do their 5 hour tour of the DDay beaches, Caen is an easy 20 minute drive from Hotel Churchill. The memorial and tour was perfect for our level of interest. I highly recommend Hotel Churchill for a peaceful, comfortable stay while in Normandy.

Room Tip: Staff is very accomdating in meeting room request.
