“Beautiful quiet garden”
Reviewed 10 January 2014

We walked through the garden on a mild day in early January and enjoyed it very much. It is very well tended with paths, a pond, benches for sitting and reflecting, and lots of trees. It's large enough to enjoy but not so big as to get lost in. The interpretive labels, in French and English, do more than describe the trees; they connect the tree type with Bayeux, French, and sometimes even American history. It turned out to be a longer walk from the Place Saint-Patrice than we thought, but it was worth it.

“November visit to Jardin Publiqu”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

We took a (long) walk to the Bayeux memorial on the north of town (about 2 km) and this garden was nearby. It appears to be a lovely spot, but not very convenient to downtown. .,. and in November, there were not many flowering plants. It also began to rain (a frequent event in November!) and we had to cut our visit short. If you are in the area, you might visit here... but probably not worth a special trip.

“Small, but well designed”
Reviewed 12 August 2013

This public garden was designed by Eugene & Denis Bulher, who also designed the Lyon's Parc de la Tête d'Or 1856-1861. Of course this is a much smaller scale city park featuring a small greenhouse, a vegetable garden, a small children play ground, some lawn area and a 150-year-old tree. Even though it is not large, it is pretty pleasant to walk around to see people taking some leisure time there. After all, Bayeux is a small town. I believe the residents there must love this park as the Lyonnais love their Parc de la Tête d'Or.
