The location of this hotel could not have been better. Almost literally in the shadow of the cathedral and at the foot of the busy main street with dozens of little restaurants. I enjoyed lunch on the spacious, bright patio of the attached restaurant. The staff was very helpful although somewhat limited English for those travelers who do not have some basic French in their vocabularies. The room was small and basic, but fine for what I needed. Would have liked a hairdryer in the room, but no big deal. Also, if you're taking the Churchill Hotel shuttle to Mont Saint Michele, the hotels essentially share a parking lot, so it's about a 45 second walk.

The hotel is also a fairly easy walk from the train station if you have a small rolling suitcase or backpack. About 10 minutes.

Also -- the Churchill shuttle was great for getting to Mont Saint Michele, though I would've liked another 30-60 minutes at the site.

We stayed at Hotel Reine Mathilde for four nights in Room 10, and I have nothing but good things to say about the hotel and the staff. Although it is just a 2* hotel, it sits above a brasserie and there is decent food available at all meals for reasonable prices. We took the 7 Euro breakfast, which included the usual french bread, boiled eggs, cheese, cereal, yogurt, fruit, juice and unlimited coffee.

There was free internet access for our netbook, but the code seemed to change frequently and we would get a new code from the staff.

The staff was extremely busy, staffing the brasserie and the hotel, but they were efficient and pleasant.

We took a two-day tour with Battlebus, and the hotel was just steps to the area where we met our guide each day. In addition, it was quite near from the cathedral and the BayeuxTappestrie. Although it was centrally located, we didn't feel that we were in a crowded tourist street.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights. Location was perfect, literally 2 mins walk to the high street, tourist office etc. Rooms were a little on the small side but were more than adaquate for our needs. Breakfast was really good ( Buffet style ) all for 7 euros. Staff really helpfull.
One very small negative point -- No tea of coffee making facalities in the room. Seems to be the norm with France.

We were in Bayeux for a Battlebus tour and this hotel was one they recommended. It was great. The rooms are nice. The location is right near the Bayeux Tapestry. The breakfast was very good for the price. Spotlessly clean. The young man who runs the hotel spoke great English and was an absloute delight to deal with.

Best of all, the price was lower than any other place we stayed on our trip (London, Normandy, Paris, Berlin). It's not fancy and does have some stairs.

I do plan to go back to Normandy some day (too much to see in just one day) and I will certainly stay here.

Like most reviews here we found this accomodation to be ideal for our needs, unfortunately having listened to others review of the Breakfast we opted to have eat elsewhere only to find out on the last day that this hotel did the Best out of the ones we tried. Would certainly stay here again and most certainly have the Breakfast here.

This hotel has a lot of charm. The location is good, in the centre of town, within walking distance of the Bayeux rail station and on the block that has the meeting point for D-Day tours. Staff were friendly and they understood my English OK. The rooms were clean and comfortable. There is a restaurant downstairs that is good value.

We recently returned from a 7 1/2 week, 9 country European trip. This hotel was one of our best 4 night stays along the way. When in a foreign country, it is refreshing to find such outstanding service, pleasant and helpful personnel, as well as a clean room. This hotel is centrally located within easy walking distance of anything you would want to see in Bayeux, France. We took day tours to the American Beaches and to Mont St Michel from a location only 3 mins walk away. The Cathederal, restaurants, and shopping as well as the Tourist Information Bureau were no more than 5 mins walking distance. This was a superb hotel experience.
