Wonderful location in the historic centre with easy access to all Bayeux museums and D Day beaches. The accommodation is tucked away behind electric gates leading directly onto the main street. We found the gates a little 'tight' to turn into, but, once inside the quiet and secluded 'gardens', there was easy parking right next to the front door. A friendly welcome from Caroline was well-received and Gwenhaele (the owner) had kindly made sure that we had some provisions waiting for us as we arrived on a fete day when the shops were closed. The accommodation is very small but has everything one could need. The staircase may be a little steep for those with knee or balance problems, otherwise, everything is perfect. The place was spotless with delightfully chic touches such as exposed beams and faux flowers tastefully placed here and there. It was cosy even in November, and, like another Reviewer, we found the heated towel rail to be marvellous!! The huge bed was very comfortable with a window in the ceiling looking out onto the next-door tower. Although the shops were immediately outside the gate, the only sound we ever heard from inside the accommodation was that of the Cathedral bells tolling. Restaurants were within easy walking distance, but many were closed in November. Nevertheless, we always found good places to eat with friendly staff and reasonable prices. It's good to stroll back up the sloping road to the accommodation to work off some calories after lovely crepes with stewed apples and cream! The WiFi was good after we had rung Caroline to ask for the code. A nice touch was the provision of a large bowl full of brochures giving information on every type of attraction within Bayeux and further afield. We loved our visit to the beautiful Cathedral (walkable from the accommodation) and then concentrated on the D Day museums and beaches which were so amazing and informative. The Cathedral installation of photographs from Syria was a stark reminder that war still goes on today, ruining lives and causing untold devastation and death. The vast pieces of the Mulberry Harbour still to be seen in the sea at Arromanches were astonishing and brought home to one the utterly vast effort that was put into the preparations for the D Day landings. We found November a very good time of year to visit as there were only a handful of other tourists wherever we went. This gave us plenty of scope for standing and staring in wonder at items in the museums, and the roads were very clear. We stayed for seven nights but could have stayed for much longer as we didn't touch on William the Conqueror, lace-making, the historic trail around Bayeux, cider-making, castles, or the varying countryside around Normandy. We shall definitely return. I must make special mention of the owner, Gwenhaele, who allowed me to practise my written French via several emails prior to our arrival in France. She writes very good English and nothing was too much trouble for her. She always replied promptly and gave me all the information I needed to ensure a perfect stay. All in all, a fabulous week with a wonderful little old house to return to each night.

Nice, compact apartment in a wonderful area. Had everything we needed, including parking and wi-fi. Fantastic location in center of Bayeux. Numerous restaurants to walk to. Great patisserie outside the gate where we bought croissants every morning. The location allowed us access to all the sites in the area. While we were there the weather was cold and rainy and it was hard to adjust the heater. Otherwise this would have rated five stars.
We stayed five nights at this terrific property in May and enjoyed it so much. From the start the owners are a pleasure to work with and were in touch prior to arrival and picked us up from the train station since we would not have a car. The property is in excellent location to walk all most anywhere. You have key to gate and enter a secluded area that is quiet and secure. The apartment on two levels and although small is very efficient and you have what you need and plenty of storage for your items. There is TV and WiFi. Plenty of light coming in thru squeaky clean Windows. The place is spotless. The kitchen has all you need right down to the small dishwasher. The bedroom has a big wonderful bed with a great mattress and large drawers underneath for storage also. A large closet with shelving also. The bathroom has the best heated towel rack. Older or disabled people people might have issues with stairs to second floor. We had no problem and enjoyed staying at this historic, quiet, reasonable, newly renovated apartment with the kindest and most helpful owners you could find.
