“The Perfect Stay”
Reviewed 26 October 2013

We spent three nights at Le Petit Matin as part of our visit to see the D-day landing sites. While there we spent part of two afternoons in the back garden and were served fresh crepes to accompany the wine we drank while we were swapping garden tips with Antoine. It really was like a family visit. Others have mentioned the great recommendations for eating and sightseeing and that was true for us also. If you come to Bayeux, stay here.

My husband and I were traveling in France with another couple and chose Bayeux as the home base for our time in Normandy. We had the pleasure of staying at Le Petit Matin. The house has been beautifully restored and the location was excellent. Antoine went out of his way to make sure that we made the best use of our time in the three days that we were there. His advice was "spot on" about the sights to see and the most efficient way to see them. The guest rooms are quite lovely, beds and linens very comfortable and the bathrooms updated and modern. Breakfast was delicious with the fresh breads, jams, cheeses and even homemade apple and pear tarts. We would definitely recommend Le Petit Matin for anyone traveling in Normandy.

This large home has been totally redone and is beautiful in every detail!
It is located in the center of Bayeux on the impressive Place Charles de Gaulle , 5 minutes walk to the Cathedral, restaurants and market place.
The rooms are decorated with exquisite taste. Spacious, light and with high quality bath rooms.
Excellent and friendly breakfast served in the large country kitchen. Living room opening on beautiful garden. The host welcomes you with ideas on what to do in the region and seems genuinely happy to have you staying with his little family and sweet baby boy.
I only stayed one night but left wishing I had a family home like this...

Room Tip: I stayed in Le Lin room , with view on the square!

This review is overdue as we stayed at le Petit Matin in July. We were traveling with another couple and we all felt very positive about our three night stay here. Our rooms were, spacious, attractive and well furnished and spotless. Breakfasts were delicious and ample.
We were invited to enjoy the back garden and did so, with Pascal even offering to chill our wine, and bringing us a bowl of ice too. Pascal was a wonderful host and was always happy to spend a few minutes with us to give advice be it travel in Normandy, restaurants, or local attractions.

The B & B is across from the park which lent a peaceful and quiet air to the accommodations and yet it was an easy walk to restaurants, the cathedral and shopping areas. There was plenty of on street parking.

Our best lodging during our 2 weeks in France!

Room Tip: The website shows photos and gives description of all the rooms.

We stayed at the original Le Petit Matin 3 years ago, but knew when we booked again for September that Pascal had bought his new place and opened it under the old name.

When we knocked on the door, who greeted us, but Pascal and Valentin his precious little son, who was new to us since our last visit. The house and grounds are beautiful. The back yard is especially large and Pascal has put alot of work into landscaping and adding trees and shrubs.

Our room faced the park across the street and I could hear the fountain in the park when I lay down for a nap. Big windows in the bedroom and bath area opened and there were flowers just outside the windows.
Pascal had beautiful fresh roses in the bathroom as well as our bedroom area. The rooms are very, very large for France. The bathroom had double sinks, a huge walk in shower with towel heaters, and a separate toilet area.

Our breakfast for four mornings had similar fare. Fresh crescents and other breads, ham, cheese, yogurt, fresh fruits and home made jams. Pascal had just come back from buying some plums to make jam the next morning. He got up at 6am to make a lovely plum tart. His kitchen is warm and sunny and eating areas were either in the kitchen or the dining room. We ate both places and truth be told, I liked the kitchen table the best.

Pascal, keep up the good work. Valentin is adorable and so are you.

The town of Bayeux is all a traveler could ask for. We had mass on Sunday at the cathedral (it was in French, which we do not speak, but the words didn't matter, His presence was felt) The town has a winding little river with water wheels and flowers and plenty of restaurants and shops to keep you busy after visiting the D-Day beaches. Many of the tours start in Bayeux at the main square area for pick up. I was disappointed in learning Battlebus was no more, but some guides I hear merged over with another tour group. Don't miss the Bayeux Tapestry. It is amazing.

Room Tip: People staying while we were there all said their rooms were great, but I loved the room with the pa...

Had a wonderful time staying at le Petit Matin in Bayeux. Pascal is a wonderful host, the rooms were large, clean and wonderfully furnished. The breakfasts were very good. This is an excellent place from which to visit the beaches, cemeteries and museums of Normandy. Bayeux itself is a wonderful historic village well worth a visit. Likely very difficult to not find good restaurants, but if in doubt just ask Pascal who will direct you well.

Cannot recommend highly enough.

Very large bedroom and modern bathroom that were well decorated in antique furnishing. Our room overlooked the backyard which made for a lovely view. We had a very ample breakfast and delicious coffee as well as directions from Antoine to our restaurant and to our tour guide.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Our House This is the second adventure for our Bed and Breakfast 'Le Petit Matin' in this beautiful town of Bayeux. Originally located on 'rue Quincangrogne' for 8 years, we decided to move to our new home that offers more spacious and comfortable guest rooms. Located in the heart of the historic town of Bayeux, on the 'Place Charles de Gaulle' planted with 150 lime trees and classified a 'Natural Monument' in 1932, 'Le Petit Matin' welcomes you warmly. For us, morning is an important time of the day (hence the name of our bed and breakfast!), Too often sacrificed. We therefore wanted to ensure our guests experienced a truly memorable moment, full of tranquillity and authenticity, around a hearty breakfast in the beautiful and completely renovated building dating back to the late 17th and 18th centuries. The house is located next to the old Bayeux porcelain factory which has been run by three successive families (Langlois, Gosse and Morlent). We offer four guest rooms; each carefully decorated and personalized on the 1st floor of our house. We have attached particular importance to comfort, decoration and to our garden. Dates available on August, September and October directly on our website. ... more   less
