We went there with our 2 kids in May: the place is beautiful: a castle which still has its warm and cosy atmosphere, very authentically preserved, the garden is beautiful and its the perfect location to walk in Bayeux or drive to D-DAY beaches. The rooms are big and beautiful, the bathroom is modern and the breakfast is nice. Our host was charming and caring. Thank you very much to make us feel at home in your castle! I recommend the place 100%!

We visited two years ago and were happy to return. Owner Anthony remembered us and ensured that we got the same lovely room we had last visit. He was again very helpful in helping us route our itinerary around Normandy. His restaurant recommendations were also top notch. We booked two rooms and both were very elegant. One was on the street level just off the gardens and the other at the top of the staircase. Quiet and just perfect. As the first chateau in the region, this converted guesthouse is historic as well as comfortable. Our breakfast was included in the price and we enjoyed it each morning. It offered a grander offering than many French hotels. We will happily return on our next stop in Bayeux.

We booked this place looking for a non chain hotel. This is a beautiful property and a great historic building. It is ideally situated between the tapestry and the cathedral. If you are looking for a fancy 5 star place look some where else. If you want a hotel that is clean and character this was the best place we stayed in the three weeks we were on our trip. Anthony was a great host.

This is a wonderful guest house. The room we had was spacious and very comfortable and led directly out into the large private garden. The guest house is in a superb position within easy walking distance to both the centre of Bayeux and the tapestry museum. We found it ideal as a central base for touring

We turned up and could not believe our luck.

A beautiful property, lovely owner and great room all within walking distance of the tapestry and cathedral. With parking on site. The gardens are amazing as well.

Anthony answered all of our questions and had great local knowledge.

Breakfast was lovely and well priced as well. Don't miss out in this B&B.

My wife and I stayed at Tardif on the occasion of my 65th birthday, combining it with a tour of the Normandy beaches, where my wife's father saw action and survived to reach Hamburg at the end of the WW2. We were joined for two days by two friends from home in England who had a separate room. Having the large ground floor room opening on to the terrace and garden worked really well for us. Mostly we had fair weather which enabled us to sit outside for evening drinks (see photo). Antony the host, kindly kept (several) bottles of wine and champagne chilled for us in his kitchen fridge for this purpose. The room was spacious and quiet and the bathroom likewise and well stocked with toiletries and clean towels. We had no problems finding the entrance, parking the car or managing without a room kettle - all issues previous guests have written about on these pages. We treated Antony respectfully and this was reciprocated with nothing but helpfulness. Sitting around a large breakfast table with other guests was unusual but for a small hotel (the name 'hotel' literally translates as 'house' in French for those who write on these pages with other expectations) was a quaint feature. There is no evening meal or restaurant here but with dozens of eating places a few minutes walk away this was no problem. Antony will recommend several, all of which were very good.

Room Tip: I think we had the best room on the ground floor opening out to the terrace.

We were so glad to come across the website when searching for accommodation in the area, I don't feel that it did the property justice!! What a perfect gem in the heart of Bayeux. In the centre of town yet secluded in a wonderful private garden, quiet but not isolated, a wonderful historic period property but with all modern conveniences and the ability to park safely and securely. We had a lovely welcome from Anthony, who has excellent English, were served a very welcome afternoon tea and shown to very comfortable en-suite rooms, any misgivings about the ground floor rooms were soon dissolved as the grounds are locked in the evenings with keys issued to guests. It was ideal for my Mother to have a single room. We felt as if we were house guests rather than hotel visitors. The breakfasts were incredible, such a diverse choice of fare which set us up for all our sight seeing. We were so lucky that the weather was good to us, so much so that we were able to enjoy our aperitif's in the garden before venturing to one of the many restaurants (by foot) that Anthony recommended. The charm is that the hotel is intimate with only a few rooms. There was Wi-Fi in the public areas. Bayeux proved to be the ideal centre for seeing so much in the area, and for that reason we know that some, if not all of us will return.

Room Tip: Each of the 3 rooms that our small party occupied were charming, The single and one of the doubles h...
