Florence, the owner and chef does everything for her gurests. The room is large and well appointed. Location so close to town allows you to walk everwhere and Florence will give you the best places to eat while staying with her. The breakfast is unbelievable and all cooked in her kitchen and served on fresh white linen. After breakfast you don't need another meal for sometime, at least we did'nt while touring Normandy. We enjoyed it so much we are sending our son and daughter-in-law there this fall

We stayed two nights in the Josephine room. It is spacious and tastefully decorated. The location is very good. Bayeux isn't a large town and it is very walkable to all sights and restaurants. Breakfast is in another very elegant room, served on china that varies each day. Florence makes the extra effort of providing a homecooked specialty each day. On the days we were there, she prepared french toast and crepes. Bayeux's location is very good. It is close to the D-Day sights and if one is driving into Paris, it is convenient to stop in Honfleur and Rouen on the way. Both are well worth at least a couple of hours. We found several reasonably priced restaurants which served good food with good service. All in all, I would recommend Bayeux and the Hotel de Sainte Croix for a visit to Normandy.

We stayed 3 nights with Florence (our hostess) over Easter weekend. The room we stayed in was the Jospehine room. Very large room with a huge ensuite bathroom. The room faces the main street which can be a little noisy in the early morning hours. The location was excellent. We were within walking distance of restaurants, shops, the tapestry and cathderal. There was a lovely saturday market, across the street from the hotel. Florence recommnded a great restaurant for us. Breakast is served in a beautiful dining room. Yogurt, fruit, bread, croissants and every day a different hot creation. Crepes, coffee cakes, etc. A very good value and a lovely stay.
We had room for our car within the gates of the B&B.
Bayeux is a great location to base yourself to visit the beaches of Normandie and explore the surrounding area.

We have just returned home from our holiday to Normandy, our few days spent in Hotel de Sainte Croix will remain a highlight. The wonderful Florence was so welcoming to us and our 8 month old. As it was our first time abroad with him I was concious of travel, sleeping, feeding etc.....Florence had given us a beautiful (huge) room with travel cot set up, at breakfast he had a highchair laid out and she even entertained him with 'le teddy' - Breakfast was amazing each morning, a feast of flavours - crepes, tarts, stewed fruits, french toast...It became our favourite meal of the day! The Hotel is ideally situated, not in the 'centre' but just 1 minute walk in, so no noise! The rooms and food were perfect but most of all Florences smile and hearty welcome made our stay the best ever. We were sad to move on!

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights in the Victoria Room. Please see the images I have uploaded in that the ones on the website are outdated for decor.

The B&B couldn't be more charming. A very large old building has been converted to several very large rooms (especially Josephine and Victoria) and decorated beautifully with antiques and charm. Our room was remarkably large with a lovely sitting area where we could enjoy complimentary tea. The bathroom was huge as well and well appointed. The stand-up shower worked well, but without a door there is a bit of water spray that goes out onto the floor just outside the threshold to the shower but easily handled with a towel on the floor. There was no bathtub, but frankly it was great to stand up again in France. The towels and linens were fine, the pedestal sinks were really nice and sunshine floods in the side window. The toilet is in a separate room. There are two doors separating the bathroom from the bedroom and if you count the door to the toilet area, it is three doors. Very private and quiet.

The room is reached via an easy to navigate staircase. The front hall is charming and the breakfast room is truly beautiful. Out the back of the property is a large grassy area and garden with garden furniture for a picnic or reading and beyond that is another walled yard that is less finished. The amount of land was really surprising for an in-town place. We did not spend any time in that yard though because we were busy touring.

Breakfast was a highlight of this B&B. The owner sets out a large spread in a formal breakfast/dinning room on Villeroy and Boch china and each day there is some specialty cooked be her that was different each day. Breakfast can be served at any morning time you choose withing a few hours spread. I left each morning stuffed with delicious food. I think this was probably one of the best breakfasts we experience in our 1 month trip. Meat and egg eaters however may not like the lack of those items, but of course this is a French Breakfast, not a reproduction of America/GB

The location was extremely central and thus walking down one of the main streets for restaurants each night was very easy. There is only on-street parking, but at least during the period that we traveled, there were always spaces right in front of the property.

A few quirks. We were told on arriving that we would have to wait until 5pm to check in. We were not aware of this and arrived about noon, but she kindly let us store out bags in the hall (and her son took them up to our room for us). The owner says she does not speak English and thus my wife speaking very good French was a huge benefit for communication. However as we stayed longer it became clear that she does speak some just fine English but is shy about her abilities. I slowly made the switch to more English as we got to know each other better. She is very friendly and likable. It is noted that there might be internet WiFi access, but really there is not. She has her own high-speed access, but does not give out access. It is touted that some of the free French WiFi may be available but do not count on it at all. You will have to find a hot spot somewhere. Lastly, she asks that when you leave for the day that you hang your room key on a hook at the locked front door and swap it for a front door key. This made us very security nervous in that any tenant could grab your key and go into your room, but we go used to it after awhile and had no mishaps. I suspect this is the way because the keys are all ancient turn keys and I suspect if one gets lost it would be a big problem. You could cheat and take the key with you, but if you lost it, I suspect it would be a big problem. None of these quirks had any negative effect on our stay, but I thought I would point them out.

The window in the room looks out directly on the courtyard and street and my wife loves to keep the window open while sleeping. I thought it would be noisy, but actually, during later September, there was extremely little noise which I found surprising.

We used this B&B as a base for seeing the War Memorial Museum in Caen, the D-Day beaches, and the town of Bayeux and had a rental car.

In summation, if I were to return to Bayeux, I would stay here again without looking anyplace else. I think the quality of the room, size of the room, quality and quantity of the breakfast, ambiance of the house and pleasantness of the owner added up to a great experience especially in light of what I thought was a great price for all the value.

Please see the many images I uploaded.

My wife and I travelled with 2 other couples, and we used 'Hotel de Sainte Croix' in Bayeux as our base for a 3-day stint in Normandy. It was the perfect spot and this B&B was fantastic. It was only a 10min stroll to the centre of town.

The rooms were huge and had an old-style charm to them. It was all very clean and nice with little pretty stools and vases and paintings etc.

There are only about 4-5 rooms, so the woman in charge was able to give everyone much care and assistance. She had plenty of brochures and pointed us to a fantastic restaurant called Le Petit Restro.

She also set up the most amazing breakfast with cakes, fruit, muffins, croissants, toast, hot chocolate, yoghurt and cooked fruit crumble.

Yes there is a flat carpark across the road, but it's not a bad thing. It's more like a town square because there's lovely trees and a nice statue, and it provides a nice, open feel to the front of the B&B. In fact, on Saturday morning this turned into a huge fresh food market. We bought lovely bread and cheese etc, to eat on the D-Day beaches.
