This is an excellent history museum on wwii with short films about major events including the bombing of london, the massacre in Nanking, the holocaust, propaganda during the war, a bit on the crucial fighting in the USSR and of course a major focus on the normandy invasion. Should dedicate at least 2 hours to the museum. Bus 2 comes from downtown Caen and the bus times are written at each stop. Minimum time for museum 3 hours.

At the memorial, we also arranged an excellent last minute half day (5 hr starting at 2 pm) normandy invasion tour with 7 passengers and an English speaking guide with five stops showing and explaining Point Hoc, Omaha beach, German bunkers, the American cemetery and the sea blocks to calm the landings. Tour was good and cost 64 Euros per person with discount coupon from our hotel and including museum entry. Bathrooms easily available at third stop at American cemetery - difficult but possible at two other stops.

If you have an interest in WW2 history, this is a must see. The museum is well done- exhibits are fresh and meaningful and do a great job of capturing the entire war, not just the events of D Day. Heartily recommend a guided tour of the beaches and other attractions- the area covered is large and it would be easy to get lost. The American Cemetery is a must-see- very respectfully done and well maintained. This was the highlight of our trip to Paris for me- just 2 hours away by train.

The museum has lots of information which require a great amount of time, even I spend the whole afternoon is still not enough, I miss some film and somehow is really heavy history to read

The Peace Memorial is a meaningful idea and the current presentation is probably ideal for school children. The plaques and displays are a bit too hard for aging eyes to discern and the artifacts, while relevant to the era, are mere decor apart from some legible explanation of what they are, where they were found and how they relate to the display.

A moving and informative museum. Films, stories of people who lived through the events, newspaper reports, photographs - everything in its place to tell the story of the 2nd world war and what led to it. At times I had to fight back the tears.
