Staff very helpful and attentive, breakfast was plentiful and fresh, staff made sure we were looked after when a USA coach full of hungry teenagers cleared the buffet breakfast in minutes, good location and free parking, room basic but clean, good value for money.

The location is very convenient for exploring the Caen area, within walking distance of the WWII Museum and exploring the landing beaches. It's cheap in both senses of the word; Tired, small bedrooms, no sound-proofing, off-hand staff, awful food (breakfast's not too bad but there is always a queue and the staff seem to be irritated by having to replenish milk, coffee, etc.). Just across the road is the Kyriad and if I was to return to Caen and needed a convenient base, would probably stay there instead. It's clearly popular with coach groups, which doesn't aid service or breakfast queues.

Their seafood platter leaves a lot to be desired and would not, I didn't think, fall into the category of 'fresh'. Their salad Nicoise contained neither potatoes nor beans and therefore consisted mainly of lettuce, tomatoes, tinned tuna and anchovies - basically a tuna salad. I ordered their daily special main course which, quite frankly, was awful and consisted not of a lamb chop (or chops) as I know them, but was basically little more than a slice of lamb with a bone along one side. Thinking that it would be very difficult to go wrong with ordering the cheese selection was a mistake - it consisted of two small pieces of very similar soft cheese and a pile of dressed salad and no utensils to eat it with or staff to request them from.
Nope, we won't be going there again,

Oh, and if you're going out in the evening, ask them where the night entrance is and don't forget to take your key so that you can get back in again.

Room Tip: We were at the far end of the corridor on the 2nd floor (no lift that I could see, by the way) and w...

Clean rooms, good location for stops along Normandy coast and Caen Memorial. Rooms are small, but clean. No amenities like American hotels like shampoo and soaps. You also have to ask for hair dryers. Breakfast buffet was ok including baguettes, cereals, slices of ham and cheese. I was with a group so dinner was included here and was pretty good for a budget hotel/ restaurant and included a delectable chocolate tart. Dinner service was very good and management seemed to want to please their guests. l

We chose this hotel als a base for visiting the invasion beaches in Normandy, and for that purpose it was perfect! Now for the hotel;
-The room:
-Not big, but for 2 persons adequate!
-The room was supposed to be a non-smoking room, but there was a distinct smell of smoke.
-The matress was completely worn out, and very, very soft!
-Wifi was there, but after 10pm almost non-existent, we could not get a signal or it was very weak!
-The bathroom was clean, but the showerhead was very low and out of date!
Staff:
-Helpful and friendly!
Breakfast:
This contained an adequate selection!

For the price paid €55 pppn; i guess we could not expect much more, but like i said; for one night, perhaps two, it is allright!

We arrived here at 13.50 - ten minutes before the restaurant closed for lunch - the clerk asked us if we wanted lunch, and when we said "Yes", he made sure the restaurant stayed open to cook and serve us. During our stay here we ate breakfast four times in the hotel (an adequate selection at the breakfast buffet), once for lunch (very well prepared), and twice for dinner (well prepared each time). The room was small and lacked some common amenities - but quite frankly, I do not travel to stay in a hotel room. The staff accomodated all of our requests, the bed was comfortable, and the food fine. What more is required? After all, when you make a reservation here, you know you are not making a reservation at a "deluxe" hotel. In addition, the hotel provided free off-street parking and totally free wi-fi, on a secure network, 24/7. Our "deluxe" hotel in Paris charged 19Euros per day for a non-secure wi-fi network, bordering on the criminal in my mind.
So, a comfortable room, well-prepared food, friendly staff, very good extras and at a reasonable rate. I would stay here again if in the neighborhood.

We chose this hotel as it advertised late check in until 23:00 .We arrived just after 10pm the Hotel seemed to be in complete darkness the check in desk was open, by open I mean there was a spotty youth playing on his mobile .We checked in and were told the restaurant and bar were both shut we asked if there was anywhere else local to eat or drink which there wasn’t so it meant a drive to Caen city centre. What was really annoying was the fact we had stopped at another Crocus hotel (Caen Memorial) to ask directions, this was buzzing; the restaurant was open with families sitting outside eating, having drink and generally enjoying the hot summer evening and a total contrast to the dismal place we stayed in. The rooms we had were not very clean and tiered .I also developed 2 insect bites from somewhere that night. Fortunately we decided against breakfast.
