if you look "hospitality" up in the dictionary, you are likely to find a picture of Phillipe and Elizabeth Chauvreux! We and another couple stayed at La Pluie last week; the rooms, grounds, breakfast and French country inn ambiance were outstanding. Our only regret is that we could not extend our stay to enjoy the experience longer. Parking inside the gated grounds is easy, and guests are a short walk from Giverny's charming restaurants and of course museums. We will definitely re-book with La Pluie when we hopefully travel through Giverny again!

The room was wonderful, bright and clean. Phillipe and Elisabeth were charming and very helpful. Breakfast had awesome granola and coffee. The grounds were beautiful and lots of places to sit and contemplate. If you are looking for a quiet getaway in a lovely environment....this is for you. Plus, just a ten minute walk to town and Monet gardens. Life is good!

This was our third visit to Giverny, which remains inspiring. La Pluie de Roses is a real gem that is comfortable, furnished in good taste and provides a relaxing and friendly environment in which to enjoy a pleasant stay. We were full of admiration for Mr et Mme Chauveau who were genial and attentive hosts. Like other reviewers, we too arrived after a long drive - in our case from Mayenne - but our spirits were instantly lifted by the ambience of the house and gardens and the warm welcome that we received. We would warmly recommend La Pluie de Roses to anyone wanting to visit Giverny and enjoy its unique atmosphere, especially on a summer's evening after the crowds have departed.

Tip: ask to buy your tickets for Monet's Garden from the hotel. This allows you to enjoy your breakfast, arrive early and avoid waiting in a long queue, catch the morning dew on the flowers, and observe the ritual opening of the lilies in the pond around 10am. We returned to a favourite haunt - Ancien Hôtel Baudy in the village - for a lovely evening meal eating out in the garden terrace. The restaurant was (as always) very well patronised so it’s worth making a reservation to avoid being disappointed.

We arrived here after a long drive from Calais but were instantly impressed. We had a lovely room, the gardens were a delightful haven to sit and relax in and the owners Mr et Mme Chauveau could not have been more helpful and kind. I would certainly recommend La Pluie de Roses to anyone wanting to visit Giverney.
Tip: ask to buy your tickets for Monet's Garden from the hotel to save time waiting in a long queue.
We had a lovely meal at the Hotel Baudy in the village, this completed the whole experience sitting under the trees on a warm summer evening enjoying great food.

We booked La Pluie des Roses after reading through TripAdvisor and it lived up to the excellent reviews. An elegant house in beautiful gardens, comfortable and spacious room with its own kitchen area, and very friendly owners with two lovely King Charles Spaniels. Breakfast included the best home-made jam we've ever tasted. In terms of location it was about 10 minutes' walk from the Impressionist Museum and a little further from Monet's house, but it was a pleasant stroll along the village street and past the church where he's buried. When you're in garden you can hear traffic on the lower road but I think that would be the case with many places in Giverny. On balance I'd say it was pretty near perfect.

My wife and I visited Giverny during late March of 2011. La pluie de roses is clean and comfortable. Both indoors and out, the inn is filled with places to relax and enjoy the quiet. We visited off-season, and felt like the town was ours. The owners are friendly and accommodating at every turn.

We arrived in Giverny on June 2nd, a public holiday in France so we were a little taken aback by the crowds of people in the village. However, we were protected behind the gates of Le Pluie de Roses, a peaceful haven. Our room was very comfortable, it had a large bathroom and a small kitchenette and a separate entrance. We had access to a beautiful sitting room upstairs and a small conservatory and terrace in the garden. The large garden had many nooks to discover. The room was spotless and well maintained throughout our stay.
Philippe and Elizabeth were the perfect hosts, warm, friendly and helpful but not obtrusive, quite often we were not aware of them being there. We had a car rental problem due to the public holiday and Philippe did his utmost to help us resolve it. He also sells tickets to Monet"s Garden which is extremely helpful to avoid the queue to get in. We enjoyed Monet's garden but we shared it with crowds of people.
The breakfast was enjoyable and adequate and served in the glass conservatory of the house.
Philippe recommended the Hotel Boudy for lunch or dinner, we became regulars, working our way through the menu, simple country food at a good price.
It would have been nice to have had an English speaking channel on the TV, however, this is a small B&B in a French village, not a 5 star hotel, so we didn't expect one.
Thank you Philippe and Elizabeth, we enjoyed our stay with you and enjoyed the village of Giverny.
