Philippe and Elizabeth Chauveau are generous hosts who obviously enjoy sharing their delightful house - so French, so chic! My husband and I were to stay only one night but we were fortunate enough to be able to stay on an extra night - we would not have hesitated staying longer but more travels were awaiting. We have no reservations in highly recommending the very charming "La pluie de Roses" - an easy stroll to Monet's House and Garden and a little further to the famous Hotel Baudy which is excellent for dinner.

I stayed at La pluie de roses with three friends so that we could visit Monet's garden and house in some comfort. This was achieved in style.

Philippe Chauveau and his lady could not have been kinder. The room was great and of real character. Everything that could be done was done to make our stay a real holiday. Tickets for admission were arranged for us and restaurant tables reserved.

In fact it was one of the best short breaks that I have experienced. In writing this review I must comment on the previous posting by "Jennifer." I am not sure where this person comes from or in fact is "going to" but it must be somewhere on another planet.

Is she sure that she has the correct address? I have never seen such a bitter and childish rant on Trip Advisor. The woman must be paranoid. I and my family use Trip Advisor as a matter of routine before making and bookings. We might not always agree with other postings but this one is exceptional in rudeness.

If you are looking for a cold sterile environment without charm and character don't go to La pluie. There are lots of roadside motels that will welcome you. I repeat that we had no experience of any of the things mentione in "Jennifers" post. We were free to have our own drinks and prepared our own lunch on one day.

The lady obviously had a rough experience , but I doubt it was at La Pluie. The Cheuveaus were professional and chaming hosts: Go there

Room Tip: Talk to the Chauveaus.

We have now enjoyed two stays at this lovely place. The first impression is of a delightful hide away yet it's within walking distance of Monet's garden and for the more energetic, there's a riverside walk to the old town of Vernon.
The lovely house is almost hidden away in it's delightful grounds, just waiting to be painted (I only had time for a pen drawing). Inside, everything is SO pretty and welcoming from the conservatory where the plentiful and varied buffet breakfast is laid out to the hallway and bedrooms decorated with beautiful ebroidery done be our hostess. Our room was 'oldy worldy' and cosy yet has all mod cons. The owners are charming and very helpful and the King Charles spaniels are little darlings - and we are not really 'doggy' people.

Room Tip: We used the same one twice - with the big bathroom

We had just spent several hours at Monet's Gardens and wanted to stay in the area. We serendipitously came across this place. We are glad that we did.

The room was spacious, comfortable, and clean. It had wonderful charm. The en suite bath may have been the loveliest and most charming one we had on this trip (over 14 nights we stayed in 7 different places).

We loved their two dogs (we have two of our own). Phillipe and Elisabeth went out of their way to make us comfortable. We appreciated their warmth and hospitality.

The breakfast was enormous and beautiful with many, many selections. (My only criticism is that they did not have a crusty baguette!)

The grounds are beautiful and reflect the motif of the village - almost an extension of Monet's but on a smaller scale.

This inn is not cheap, but we felt that we got our money's worth. This is not an inexpensive area. Highly recommend this place!
