This was our second visit to Moulin de Hard and was just as exceptional as the first! Mme Fichot remembered us from our previous visit and welcomed us as if we were long lost friends. The park like grounds and charm of the restored mill make this one of the truly exceptional places to stay in all of Europe. Add Helene's hospitality and you can't go wrong. Not to be missed!

Room Tip: All rooms are superb.

My wife and adult son stayed in the Moulin de Hard for three days as part of our European vacation to Italy, UK and France. This place was by far the best place we stayed during our two weeks. It was very clean, the bathroom in the Blue suite was huge for European standards. Helene was lovely and shared her home with great pride. The breakfast was simple and elegant with homemade yogurt, breads and jams. The location to Bayeux and all the D-Day beaches couldn't have been better. If we ever came back to Normandie, we would definately stay here again.

My Wife and I spent the month of May, 2014 traveling throughout France for our 40th Anniversary. The Moulin de Hard and hostess Helene were one of the outstanding highlights of our trip.
Helene is a delightful person who lives in and provides accommodations to others in what we considered "heaven". The old mill building is so beautiful both inside and out. It could easily become a museum with so many interesting aspects.
Helene served very delicious breakfasts and was so friendly and helpful to us and other guests. She provided guidance to our seeing the D-Day beaches so we saved time by following her suggestion.
We watched her feed her sheep which we agreed were "happy sheep" given their size and ample wool. We were certainly happy guests at this outstanding B&B. What a great place!! We would love to go back and enjoy the beautiful accommodations and visit with delightful Helene.

Moulin De Hard is a restored mill turned gorgeous house and property, with a charming proprieter. It is a few minutes south of Bayeux, location of a grand old cathedral and a famed tapestry depicting William the Conqueror in 1066, and within an hour of the Normandy beaches. The house is built around the old mill works and is situated on beautiful ground near gardens and grazing animals. We only stayed 1 night and regretted not staying much longer.

This accommodation is in a beautiful setting, with a millpond and a stream running by. If you are lucky (as we were) you will see otters swimming nearby. We were given a friendly welcome by the owner, who also gave us a wonderful breakfast consisting of homemade yoghurt, jams and pastries amongst many other things.
It was difficult accessing the free internet. This accommodation is approximately 6 km from Bayeux, so a drive is necessary each evening for a meal. What a shame that Helene does not serve evening meals as they would be wonderful I am sure.
It is worth noting that all payments have to be in cash, as no cards are accepted. There is no TV or radio. The property relies very heavily on electricity, including the toilet.

Room Tip: Take slippers to wear in the bedroom, as the matting is VERY rough!

Helene warmly welcomed our family into her home. We were quite taken with her, the beautiful house and lush grounds, and the delightful horses and sheep. Feeding bread to the sheep was a most memorable experience for the kids.

While Helene professed that her Engish wasn't good, our French truly wasn't good and she saved us with her very good English! We enjoyed learning that the yogurt, jams and breads were homemade and found that we had to eat all 6 flavors of jam because they were wonderful. My family may never eat store bought yogurt again.

Helene helped us plan our days out to Mont St. Michel, the nearby D-Day beaches and museums, recommended favorite restaurants and provided literature and coupons. In addition to Helene's hospitality, the house was positively spotless and charmingly decorated. We enjoyed our stay far more than the lovely hotels we booked in London and Paris. We cannot imagine having a better stay anywhere.

Room Tip: The blue room is perfect for families with 2 bedrooms, a private bathroom with shower and lovely vie...

We stayed for seven nights in October with friends and family. Hard to believe this extraordinary, peaceful place is just a short drive from anything you want to visit in Normandy. The house is charming - spacious, full of light and color, elegantly restored; the grounds, replete with streams and ponds, meadows, horses and sheep, are full of flowers, even in October. Helene Fichot is hostess par excellence, warm and gracious - breakfast in her lovely breakfast room was full of delights and surprises! We are happy for everyone who shares our good luck in staying here!

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely, each unique. Yellow probably the smallest, but not too small at all.
