“Nice small hotel ideal for touring the area”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2013

Nice small hotel in Trouville ideal for exploring the area, The standard rooms are small but are clean and comfortable, There are plenty of restaurants in the area which will be needed as only saw breakfast in the hotel. There is a small car park in the courtyard suitable for 3 or 4 cars which they run on a first come first served basis there is parking for free on some of the narrow side streets and a maximum of three hours pay street parking elsewhere up to 7pm then it is free after that until 9am next morn. The hotel is quite and did not see a bar, may be to quite for some people. Some of the rooms look out onto small roadways were the slightest noise in the night can be heard, our room had no air conditioning so i suspect it could be very warm in the height of summer.

Room Tip: Get a larger non standard room.

We stayed here during a French bank holiday weekend so Trouville, the beach and all the restaurants were very busy, but the atmosphere was really good. To see hundreds of people eating outside (with gas heaters) on a cold November evening was an eye-opener! Our 2nd floor room was reasonably priced, very clean, warm and quiet with a comfortable double bed and an en-suite with a bath (which we like) with shower over. The room was fairly small but typical for a french hotel. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The charging is on the basis of room only with breakfast extra, though most people staying also had breakfast in the hotel so it would be nice to see a rate for B&B. The continental buffet breakfast had a good choice, with tasty fresh bread and croissants. We found the decor in the breakfast room particularly stylish and attractive, which all adds to the experience. The hotel is well situated right by the town centre and only 10 minutes walk to Trouville-Deauville SNCF station (we travelled by train from England).

Room Tip: Altough there is little trafic at night a higher floor should be even quieter.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights this November and was delighted with its overall charm. Two minutes to the beach, one minute to town centre, good clean standard room and charming staff. Stayed on a bed and breakfast basis (as so many great restaurants nearby) and the breakfasts were excellent - a wide choice including homemade patisserie and croissants. Highly recommend

The ladies at the front desk were extremely helpful, the room was impeccably clean, tastefully decorated, comfortable bed, wifi worked. Checkout was not until noon, which was nice. A lot of people have said the rooms are small, but it was normal sized for Europe, judging from others I've seen. Great location, quiet street. Just a couple blocks from the beach and lots and lots of great restaurants all around. Charming and definitely recommended!

I stayed at Le Fer a Cheval in June 2012. It was a superior value ($73 per night). The staff were friendly and welcoming. My room was small but well appointed, with a desk, bed, wardrobe, flat screen TV, separate washroom and Loo. There was no AC but in early June this was not a problem. The Hotel is a walkable distance to the train station. There is a green grocer, bakery and Monoprix in very close proximity. Also one is centrally located to the beach, cafes and bars. As a single female traveler, I felt safe and in a good location every step of my vacation here.
The breakfast was a good value for the price (€10.50) . Unlimited cups of cafe au late, a goodly selection pastries, fresh fruit, yogurt, cheeses, cold cuts, cereals, applesauce and fruit juices.
I would stay here again and do recommend it.

It didn't begin well. I had booked a room via Hotels.com, and since my friend has some back problems, I e-mailed to the hotel and asked, if it would be possible to get separate beds instead of a double. I didn't get a confirmation, but I thought it would be ok. On the evening before our arrival, I finally got a message that they only have double rooms left. By then, it was too late to cancel without having to pay for the stay, so there was not much to do.

However, my friend was angry. When we got to the hotel, the lady at the reception explained that a group had booked all the twin rooms before we made our reservation, and that we had in fact booked a double/twin. That was correct, but we asked, why they didn't reply to my e-mail right away. She apologised. We accepted the double room for the first night, and to cover the damage, the lady offered us a complimentary breakfast.

Luckily the bed was large and the room was also surprisingly fresh and modern, so we decided to stay for the three night we had booked. The breakfast was delicious, a buffé with a variety of bread, yoghurt, cheese and jams. In addition, the location was convenient - the promenade by the water is just two blocks away. The hotel didn't have free parking, but the moderately-priced casino parking is just 200 m away. Summa summarum: good value for the 79 euros per night we payed. Without the communication issues I would have given four stars.

The only funny thing were the fitted straw carpets in all rooms and hallways. They smell strong, so I'm not sure if allergic people could stand it.

We stayed at this hotel and found it to be a great location to discover Trouville and Deauville. We requested a room with a balcony and a bath, and it was tastefully decorated, although a bit small. There is a lift and we were lucky to find free parking on the side street( in high season this is not so easy). The staff were pleasant and helpful. There is free wifi on request. The great thing about this hotel is that you can leave your car parked and walk around Trouville and even over to Deauville. The hotel is round the corner from the Trouville Casino and beach. Definitely worth another visit!
