“Quality food and excellent value”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

In a party of seven we wandered away from the expensive restaurants surrounding the Vieux Bassin inner harbour and found this one just 120 metres away. It sits between two roads with one rising thus creating entrances on two different floors.

You have to accept that French restaurants in small towns tend to keep their yearly expenditure on fixtures and fittings very low. This gives them either a charming old-world character or worn-out feel depending on your attitude. We all liked the ambience of this charming old place and were glad they concentrated on what they served rather than on how much the tables and chairs cost.

We all went with the fixed price menu. Normally this is a budget option both in terms of price and quality. However, the service was excellent, the food was superb and we all enjoyed every mouthful.

The final bill worked out at 30 Euros a head including drinks and a tip. In the opinion of everyone in the group, this was fantastic value.

“Not the best choice in Honfleur”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

We noticed quite a few good reviews about this restaurant.....service was very good - far better than the food. The steak was average and half cold and the crepes for dessert left much to be desired. Unfortunately this is what happens in tourist spots with a captive audience. Not recommended.

“Average Food , pleasant location, good service”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

On a recommendation, we tried Le Crystal. We had the most expensive selection. The entrees Lobster and crevettes( prawns) tasted the same. Strong handed butter sauce, as did my Scallops for main course. However my wife's beef with roquefort sauce was excellent. The meat was cooked very well. The cheeses selection was good. The portions were good size so we did not stay for desert. The house wine is not up to the usual French standard. The service by the waiter was friendly and efficient. I would not return because the food was far from subtle in flavour.

“Good local food at a great price with excellent service”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

We arrived around 8 pm on a Thursday, the restaurant was pretty full. We were immediately given a table (with a smile). We chose the 16.50 Menu - starters of mussels and fish soup, both were excellent with plenty to share. For mains we both choose the skate wings - very well prepared in butter and caper sauce. We enjoyed a good and reasonably priced carafe of sauvinon blanc. Dinner was finished with four different local cheeses - again the portions good - we certainly left impressed and satisfied.
