“Lunch at the quayside”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

We stopped for lunch here on a sweltering day in July, and had a very pleasant light lunch. My wife had the prawns, and I had mussels. The service was quick, with drinks arriving swiftly after ordering and was followed quickly by our food. The prawns were well presented, if not a little cold (stood waiting for the mussels?) but were tasty, none the less. The mussels were fresh and straight from the steamer, and the sauce was delicious. We finished off with mochachino ice-cream and a cafe noisette for me. Honestly, the ice-cream was like velvet, and the coffee was equally as smooth. Very enjoyable lunch in the sun!

“Warm welcome on cold day”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

Unlike other reviewers, we appreciated this restaurant. The food is not Michelin star level, but it was good for just an ordinary evening when you want good food without a lot of fuss. The daurade fish was cooked properly and the chocolate desserts were good. Mostly we appreciated the warm welcome given us by the manager, who clearly aimed to please. When we asked about which Calvados we should order, he offered us a taste of the most expensive they had even though we said we would not want to spend that much. We felt warmly welcomed and left feeling good.

“Avoid”
Reviewed 8 January 2014

Having visited this restaurant a number of years ago we were looking forward to a good quality meal.
We paid 33 euro per head for some of the most amateurish cooking experienced in a long time.
My fish soup starter was dull and lacked the depth of flavor required to make this an interesting dish. My wife's starter, assiette de fruit de mer contained good oysters but the whelks were tasteless and seemed to have been cooked in plain water. My wife's main course of duck breast, although cooked pink as requested came as a lump of meat with a sticky over reduced sauce, my misfortune was to order sea bream which was cooked to perfection but spoiled by being drowned in melted butter and accompanied by some sort of aubergine concoction which was burnt ,plus a tasteless trio of mashed potatoe variations of . This was followed by an ill thought out chhese dish which consisted of diced camembert anf liverot cheese wropped in a light pastry and seemingly deep fried., cold in the middle and soggy on the outside. Puddings were delicious.
One waitress served everything which resulted in long waits for most irems ordered. Not the waitress's fault, she was charming but overworked.

“Just acceptable food and service very slow”
Reviewed 17 December 2013

This restaurant was practically the only one opened in Honfleur at this time of the year. The room is very old and not very neat. The waitress was very amateur going around for nothing. We chose "le menu des peintres" with a starter and a main course and cheese. The starter was just acceptable and the main course which was a kind of fish "of the day" soup was very average. The cheese (2 pieces of a dry camembert) was hardly edible.
Very disappointing as the prices were as high as in any other good restaurant.
We will never go back and do not recommend it.

“Appalling non service”
Reviewed 4 November 2013

We have a home close to Honfleur and consequently visit the beautiful town frequently. On a recent rainy Saturday evening, having made a reservation, we arrived to find the restaurant packed with the manager/plus just one other waiter taking orders. Any attempt to attract the attention of either of them to place our order was ignored. After forty minutes we walked out and when I told the manager what I thought of his establishment he shrugged his shoulders and grunted. NEVER AGAIN !
