“Kyriad - OK”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 October 2013

Budget friendly. Good multi-lingual reception staff. Clean, quiet room, all that is required for sleeping but somewhat lacked personality. Good parking available. Well located for Le Havre docks and town. Right next door to a big McDonnald if that adds or detracts from your experience.

If you are you looking for a quite nights sleep, this is NOT it, as it is right by a main highway. The room was dirty, i found hair all over our comforters. Some of the staff we encountered were very unhelpful and unfriendly. Overall not pleasant.

the hotel is hard to find when one arrives by train. the walk from the station to the hotel as it gets late is a bit scary but probably all right. once you know it is near macdonalds it is easy to find.

it is across from the Dock shopping and cinemas.

the rooms are standard.

the breakfast was good especially the bowl of oranges and the squeeze machine - mmm fresh orange juice.

the front desk staff was friendly and helpful.

it seems that the restaurant is good too, but i did not eat there.

The Kyriad is a little difficult to find but the best advise is go into McDonalds car park and you'll find it at the end with the large restaurant sign on the top. Rooms are a good size and the staff were very helpful. It's only problem was the free WIFI which hardly every worked and when it did this was at times like 6am. Close to the town so easy to walk to but the restaurant in the hotel was good enough.

Room Tip: I had room 210 which overlooked the MCDonalds drive though so you could hear the orders being placed...

Spent three nights there.
Functional, predictable representative of the chain, everything is there (restaurant, wifi, desk (small), good bathroom, decent TV, comfortable bed), but the room is tightly packed.
It is an easy walk (1/4 mile) from the station, but located in an area with severe post-industrial syndrome (vast empty ex-docks and basins, 20 railway tracks, busy road and flyover). But the rooms are quiet: a pretense of a maritime theme (screw-on light covers) makes for small double-glazed windows which keep the noise almost totally out.
The staff are genial and helpful; breakfast is OK+.
It is possible to walk to town (or at least, in this totally reconstructed city with no real center, to a small-restaurant district, quartier Saint François), but it is 30mn., and you can almost count on being rained on (the desk does not have umbrellas).
There is a MacDonald on the premises. But why, since there are at least six Crêperies in Saint-François, would you go to McDo?

Room Tip: All rooms are equal, more or less. Upper floor (where I was) maybe better for noise, but it is only...

We stayed at this hotel because the hotels where we wanted to stay were fully booked out. The hotel was very easy to find (we came by car from Hon Fleur) it is directly at the main road side. We had a room on the other side of the building (not the main road side) and it was rather quiet in spite of several railways and the main station just across. (The hotel stands between Main station and the busy road. The receptionist was helpful and the room was clean, so nothing to complain about that. If I would give a star to this hotel it would be a 3 star (plus). Good news for the budget traveler; in front of the hotel just 5 meters across the entrance is a McDonald's. It opens at 8:00 in the morning. It is not impossible to walk to the city but it's better to drive down there, because the area is not very attractive around the hotel. Free parking.

I spent one night in this hotel and found it comfortable and very good value. It is a modern hotel but attractive and not all plastic as so many French hotels are in this category. Also there was tea/coffee making facilities in the room which is rare in France. The staff were helpful and the breakfast was not sumptuous but it was very good. The location near the train and bus stations is excellent for anyone, like us, traveling without a car. The only downside was being kept awake by the noise from a couple in a nearby room. But I can't complain as they were clearly having a lot more fun than I was. If you are arriving in Le Havre by train don't go out through the front of the station. Find the door into the Bus Station and this will cut your walk to the Kyriad Hotel by half.
