My wife and I just returned from a one night stay in La Boulangerie in Rouen and I can honestly say it was a major determinant of why we enjoyed the town so much. The accommodation is really unique, decorated by someone with a stylish eye, and the breakfast was delicious! In addition, Aminata is a wonderful host. We have travelled a lot and the hospitality she provided was some of the best I have experienced. We will definitely be back - I can't recommend La Boulangerie highly enough!!

Very lovely and spacious room with wooden beams on all walls and ceilings (Levain room), old style furniture and great attention to detail. And on top of this you get a great wifi connection and an alarm clock on which you can charge your ipod and iphone and play your music! A perfect combination of old and new!
The breakfast was copious and delicious including fresh bread, croissants and pains au chocolat from a local bakery, home-made jams, organic yoghurts, orange juice and a variety of hot drinks (3 types of hot chocolate available!). The breakfast is served in the old bakery where I used to buy sweets as a kid - and you can still buy sweets!!
And let's not forget the very warm welcome from Aminata!
It goes without saying that I will be back and I recommend this lovely B&B to anyone looking for authenticity in this beautiful historical city!

I stayed here with my family in July and it was absolutely gorgeous, we felt so fortunate to have such a wonderful host in Aminata who looked after us attentively, and produced a delicious charming French breakfast in the morning. Our rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable and the decor was so lovely. We loved our stay at la boulangerie and would very highly recommend staying here for any traveller looking for a welcoming, cosy and traditional French experience! Thank you so much Aminata!

Room Tip: We stayed in the two to rooms, both lovely!

Aminata was a wonderful hostess, she helped us with parking our car, which is hard to do in Rouen. I would recommend not bringing a car to Rouen, unless you're doing a lot of day trips. We stayed in the family room, although we didn't use the second room because we were only two. It felt like being in a home. The B&B is in a good location, not right in town centre, but not far away. Breakfast was more than ample, we never finished everything we were given. Really unique and affordable.

My wife and I stayed for one night and enjoyed it. We stayed in the top room and it was fine. There is no elevator here and the steps are circular and quite tight. Those with leg issues would have some difficulty. Aminata is very gracious and most helpful. The breakfast was very good. The location is quite central to all that sights in Rouen. All in all, we recommend La Boulangerie.

Aminata is a friendly and very welcoming host at this small bed and breakfast.

La Boulangerie is approximately 20 minutes’ walk from Rouen train station, there is a Metro stop about 250m away but we did not use the Metro so cannot really comment. The route from the main train station is straight and in parts the pavement is narrow and there are cobblestone roads along the way – something to keep in mind if you are pulling heavy luggage.

The rooms are located up a steep narrow spiral staircase with a hand rail along one side. Aminata is obviously used to guests struggling to carry luggage up and down these stairs and was very quick to help.

Our room was located on the top floor and was airy, light and had dual aspect windows looking out onto two streets that run alongside the property. In one corner of the room there was a bath with shower over and a sink, this is tastefully partitioned from the rest of the room by thin voile curtains. The en suite toilet is in a separate room adjoining the bedroom. The room is decorated in light blue/greens and cream colours and contains a mix of new and antique furniture along with a flat screen television, tea & coffee tray and bottles of hand/bath soap.

The area the bed and breakfast is located in is quiet and residential, the quickest route to the city centre is to shortcut through the gardens (Jardin de l’Hotel-de-Ville) alongside the town hall which lead down to Monastery of Saint-Ouen (which for reference is closed to visitors on Fridays) this takes around 5 minutes and slowly slopes downhill, from there a further 5 minute walk will take you to Rouen Cathedral.

Breakfast was fresh and filling, strong coffee (or your choice of hot drink), orange juice, toasted and untoasted baguette along with a selection of preserves and croissants or pain au chocolat. The produce is clearly of excellent quality and is without doubt the best we've ever had touring France. It is served in the Boulangerie on the ground floor which seats up to six people.

The wall leading from the Boulangerie to the guests entrance/exit is filled with white tiles most of which have been decorated with pictures or messages of thanks by previous guests.

The room is simple but everything you need, and the bed is comfy. The B&B is located in an easy to find part of Rouen, 20 mins stroll to the river and within walking distance of lots of restaurants. The host is wonderful, welcoming and helpful. The breakfasts are lovely and the best pain au chocolat I have eaten (of course, the B&B is part of a boulangerie!). Great for an overnight stay on route to another destination.
