Mercure Rouen Centre Cathedrale Hotel
Ranked #4 of 52 Hotels in Rouen
Reviewed 24 February 2013

I have stayed in this hotel about 20 times over the past 4 years: the hotel is excellent with spacious rooms and good quality beds and bedding... I always sleep well. The excellent restaurants around the centre of Rouen (la Place du Vieux Marché) are a 5-minute walk away and all the surrounding streets are mainly pedestrian so the hotel is really quiet. The two minor negatives are a) the car park below the hotel is tortuously tight so you need to be brave if you're driving anything larger than a Mini! and b) the breakfast is an extortionate 16€. If you really want to have breakfast there, ask for the Express Breakfast (8€) but personally I'd pop out to a local café!

This hotel was located in a good location for exploring the city. The reception staff were friendly and helpful and provided information on sights to see, restaurants etc. The hotel had parking which was important as streets were narrow and had very little parking available.

This last week I had the pleasure of visiting Rouen for business. I chose the Mercure near the cathedrale. It was perfectly placed in the center of everything. As usual, I drove so it was also convenient to have an underground parking at the hotel as well. It's a little difficult to find, but very easy to get out of and back to the main roads. If its too difficult there is a Q park about 300 meters away.

The beds are another matter. Hopefully you get to party in Rouen and don't have to be up early as I did, because the beds are hard and uncomfortable. You won't get that great of a night sleep, sorry to say.

As I had a lot to do I also ordered room service so I could continue working. The chicken and potatoes barely covered a bare medium size plate. Not worth what I paid. A simple pizza would have been half the price and at least filled me up.

Overall though, I give this hotel a 3. The location and parking make up for the beds and poor dinner I had.

Really hard to find the hotel by car. The car park is extremely narrow when you do find it. We had a suite which was excellent though the carpets could have used a good cleaning. You need to ask for more milk as they only provide you with 2 little pods. Pretty expensive for what it is.

I've been there some nights for business last december and my overall feedback is good.
A tipical mercure hotel, so clean but quite standard in furnitures, in a incredibly central position. Breakfast is very good and well provided, rates are quite high.
Be careful, hotel is quite impossible to find if you try to reach it by the wrong road! Many GPS systems have not the right maps to go there. The best way to go there is Rue Jeanne D'Arc, turn right in Rue Jean Lecanuet, turn right in Rue des Arsins. I shouldn't be here to write it!!
Good for tourism, not so much for business.

My family and I had two rooms at this hotel. The rooms were clean but were very dark. Our suite was odd-a weird shape, and had an odd set-up. The carpet looked worn in the rooms and in the hallways. We had a space heater in our suite because the heat didn't work, which made me uncomfortable. It was overpriced but had a good location.
