We really enjoyed staying here. The room was fairly big, clean, comfortable and the staff was friendly. The hotel faces the Cathedral and is close to restaurants and sights. Booking needs to be made by phone preferably in French but the reservation can be made in English too.

We were three guys around 60 years old touring the invasion sites. Trying to keep our adventure cheap we sought budget hotels and restaurants. Hotel le Cardinal was by far the best hotel we stayed at. Our room, on the fifth floor was assigned to us as the only one with three beds.
The small lift transported the bags and one person to the fourth floor. From there it was a short hike up to the top floor to our room. Two of us decided to walk up and it wasn't so bad. The room was the largest we stayed at in Normandy. Three beds arranged so no one was tripping over another bed to navigate around the room. The window opened wide so air could enter and displayed a wonderful view of the Cathedral.
The bathroom was large with toilet and bathtub including shower hose with no curtain (just sit down, hold the hose where you want it and let gravity do the rest). A large sink completed the room.
Breakfast included all the usual items in a comfortable setting with plenty of room.
We had trouble finding the hotel in our car and finally decided to park and walk to the lobby, keeping the Cathedral in view. Our surprise was that we parked right around the corner from the hotel and didn't know it. Park overnight in the hotel recommended lot about two blocks from the hotel. Parking fee is 9 Euros. Rouen can and should be visited on foot with all sights and restaurants easily walked to in less than 30 minutes.
We were very comfortable at Hotel le Cardinal and will recommend it to friends, especially for a group of three

Hotel le Cardinal is well located in Rouen, literally opposite the Cathedral and an easy walk from restaurants and shops. While we were concerned that the family room we were staying in was just off the breakfast area and could have been noisy the only issue with the noise came from the bells in the Cathedral and these stopped at about 2200 and didn't start until 0800. There is no parking with the hotel but there is a secure underground ca rpark located no more than about 300 metres away. We didn't take the 7 euro per person breakfast option as there were a number of patisseries just around the corner t get a cheap breakfast of pain au chocolat that the kids loved.

I went for the Impressionist festival in Rouen and this hotel was perfect for a quick weekend trip from London. I reserved the double room with balcony over looking the cathedral which was well worth it!! The only downside is the bells on the sunday morning but I guess it is all part of the experience!

The room size is cozy but you wouldn't want to spend a lot of time in your room anyway. The bed is extremely comfortable though and everything was to be clean. The balony had a nice table and chairs which was nice to sit on and relax and enjoy the view of the cathedral.

No English channels (or CNN to be particular!) though on TV (which was a smart little flat screen) but no big deal. Breakfast was simple but effective for a 2 star hotel. The best part was the location, which apart from being directly opposite the amazing cathedral is right in the heart of the old town, close to the Seine and the Musee De Beaux Artes and a short ten minute stroll from the station (which is very easy to get too). There are also some simple, but effective cafes below the flat which are perfect to grab a meal after a day's sight seeing, especially if you are a solo traveller.

The reception staff were friendly too. Overall, this hotel is perfect for a weekend escape to Rouen!

Located directly across from the cathedral. We had reserved a twin room and were pleased with our two room suite with a modern bathroom. Close to everything, good breakfast and friendly reception. Highly recommended! Paid 72 Euro.
Great lunch at Pierre Champion on Rue Roullon and McDonalds for good inexpensive coffee and pastries.

We stayed here for one night after returning from Mont St. Michel and dropping off our rental car at the Rouen train station (highly recommend Rouen for car rental -- much more convenient than Paris).

It was about a 10-15 minute walk to the hotel with our bags, but the location was convenient to the few attractions in Rouen. Our room faced the cathedral, and it was a bit noisy until the restaurants closed down at about 11 pm, but after that it quieted immensely. Also, from the last trip we took to Europe, found that earplugs are one's friend when staying in cities.

The staff spoke English well, the breakfast was the best we paid for in France (if you expect American-style breakfast, stay in an American hotel), and the room was a nice size (two twin beds) and a nice-sized bathroom with shower. We were able to do our laundry and hang it up in the room, where it dried quickly.

The hotel is older, but it was clean, relatively quiet, and comfortable. The free wifi was a plus, too!

tWe stayed for 2 nights in April and loved this little hotel right opposite the fabulous cathedral. It is very French not spoilt by the foreign tourists but the staff are all friendly helpful and speak good English, better than our French. The bedrooms are small but adequate and the bathrooms a good size. There is a shower over the bath; you cannot help getting the floor wet. There is a lift but it is typically very small so just make 2 trips with the cases .The cathedral bells are not very loud and a pleasure to experience. The breakfast was good and worth the extra, parking is fine a little tricky to find but take your Sat Nav to reception and the staff will pin point it for you. The car park gets full during the day take a ticket on entry at the barrier pay on foot before leaving ,the hotel provide a voucher which gives a discount which you put in the pay machine, it’s not expensive. We took a high speed train to Paris for a day which only took just over an hour to the centre of Paris
