Although set on a busy road along the Seine, the calm, muted elegance of Gill's interior soon whisks you away into its restrained but delightful classic French cuisine. Service is polite and prompt; in addition, madame brings to it that touch of friendly, professional charm which helps make the experience more personal. We shared a seven course tasting menu - at 98 Euros pretty good value given the level of food and drink. Highlights were sea bass, a melt in the mouth venison dish and a wondrous millefeuille which disintegrated like flakes of burnt paper at the touch of the fork. Wine was excellent and set at ungrasping prices. Much enjoyed and highly recommended.

Wonderful lunch at Gill. We chose the 7 course degustation and were delighted that we did so - the combination of flavours and textures were quite sublime. Stand outs for us were a superb scallop dish; the venison; and an extraordinary millefeuille. Service was impeccable, as to be expected at a 2 star restaurant. Thoroughly recommended.

This was my first experience of a two star restaurant in France and whilst the meal was in every way delicious I must admit that there was no real wow moment which I have experienced at many single star restaurants and this meal was certainly not a patch on my only other two star experience at Midsummer House in Cambridge UK. Maybe the experience was lowered as a consequence of me having to forego the fois gras and pigeon dishes which other reviewers have noted as a highlight - apparently if one diner is a vegetarian then the whole table does not get served the meat dishes. This is a policy i find disappointing but not unique to Gill. I have given a five star rating as I enjoyed a thoroughly enjoyable meal and the price is no more than what you would pay at a single star establishment, unfortunately my experience of the food was also what you expect from a single star and not the grade above.
