A few lights here and there in the old tow, lights on the cathedral hiding the building. Useless. Only sight worth going is the animation on the wall near the Sarthe.

A perfect ending to a day visiting Le Mans!
We dropped by the tourist information and picked up a leaflet detailing where to find the 7 different light shows. The light shows were very good quality and very colourful and there were lots of people enjoying the warm summer evening. The best thing of all was this was free!!
The light show runs from 2nd July to 1st September.

What an amazing thing for a town to do - and it's FREE!!
We wanted a town to stop overnight on route to the west coast. We chose Le Mans for the sole purpose of seeing the La Nuit Des Chimeres and we wasn't disappointed. It starts at 10pm till midnight. You stroll around the medieval part of town between each show that is run on a loop.
It's very much like when Buckingham Palace was lit up during the jubilee concert last year. This was done on a grander scale.
Tried to take some photos but they didn't do it justice.
We stayed just across the river at the Ibis which was perfect and only a 5 mins walk away.
My 7 yr old loved walking down dark cobblestoned streets at midnight.
Fascinating to see. Definitely recommended.

Visited Le Mans with Family on recommendation to visit the Light Show which takes place between July and September.
Various buildings throughout the medieval City Centre are lit with moving light shows which are breath-taking in there quality. From the lady in the fountain, the gremlins crawling across the front of the steps, to the dragon breathing fire on the city wall. It was amazing, free and took two hours to work your way around the various points. Britain please take note, free entertainment, free parking, no trouble makers and all the restaurants were full. We need to take a leaf form their book and invest to improve.

We made the trip to Le Mans to see this display and were not disappointed, it is well worth the effort particularly if you have children.
