“Fantastic house and location”
Reviewed 28 May 2017 for a stay in September 2016

Beautiful settings and scenery, we enjoyed a peaceful and relaxed long weekend and can't wait to go back! Close to restaurants, shops and stunning forests. The house has everything you need and more, comfortable and homely.

“Authentic French, Relaxing & Enjoyable, Home-from-Home Property”
Reviewed 10 March 2014 for a stay in March 2014

We recently travelled to Le Petit Bois to enjoy a long weekend with friends. The house was so easily accessible from Paris' CDG airport which is a welcome change compared to similar properties I have stayed in.
Le Petit Bois felt like our home whilst we stayed there and we enjoyed making use of the great facilities to entertain ourselves over the weekend.
It was so relaxing that there was no need to leave the house at all - although for fear of missing out, we didn't have to venture far to enjoy some awesome karting at Le Mans, the old town sight seeing (amazing cathedral!), some chic shopping and truly amazing cuisine at an incredible price - for me, this is what France is about!
There are local amenities within walking distance so an early stroll into the village to get bread is easy.
The patio at the back of the house lends itself perfectly to basking in the sun and taking in the countryside air (and rosé!), and the owners even provide boule to play whilst you do so!
Will surely be visiting again, would strongly recommend if you enjoy France, relaxing, countryside, towns, sight-seeing, karting, eating out, staying in.
Wifi also available for those who can't let work go! :)

“Luxurious retreat..”

We tentatively booked Le Petit Bois... I say tentative as I couldn't actually find it on Tripadvisor & therefore (having listened to my father tell me about rogue traders setting up on .com and advertising property that is not there own!) there was a reasonably large part of me that expected to turn up to a locked up building in the middle of no-where.. Thankfully he was wrong & we had infact stumbled upon the most beautiful farmhouse situated in a small village north of the Loire. We were met by electric gates in a secluded location, set back from the road & just a short walk from the village, it is a great location. The house is spacious and even with a large party we didn't feel like we were on top of each other. This could well be due to the HUGE secure garden. Our girls were in their element running about from dawn until dusk and we were able to relax safe in the knowledge that the garden is 120% dog & child proof. Outside there is an eating area and we moved the large table from the barn to set up for BBQ's nearly even night, the kitchen is very well equipped with plenty of cutlery & crockery for all. The house has three large bedrooms, infact we could have fit our entire cottage into the master bedroom :), both upstairs bathrooms has en-suites and the bedroom downstairs was adjacent to the the shower-room so effectively, we all had bathrooms which was great as we had more women than men... The house is typical shabby chic and very homely. As we have young children it was more relaxing to eat in but we did go out for meals in nearby, Loue to "Le Table Du Coq" which was superb and very reasonably priced for a 3 course meal (around £20 per person with wine), we also went into Le Mans for the lightshow (WOW) and ate at one of the tiny restaurants that line the old cobbled streets, whoever said that Le Mans was no good other than for the 24 hour race did not look very far, it is gorgeous. So, as you can tell, we had a wonderful holiday. Things we would have liked or changed: A swimming pool would have been lovely but would make this property much more expensive & really with children, it was nice not having to worry about the pool! Also, the local shops close for 2 weeks in August, whilst it wasn't a big deal, it would have been nice to visit our local restaurant & tabac as this is the only place within walking distance, there are many places open nearby. We would come here every year if we could although after this review I fear we might have to book up earlier next time...

Hi Jess. Thank you so much for your kind words about Le Petit Bois. I'm so happy that your family enjoyed the time there, and that you found the house a relaxing retreat. I totally agree with your comments about Le Mans; it's a beautiful medieval city with so many things to do: Such shame that most people just drive past on the autoroute without stopping for a visit! We would love to welcome you back to Le Petit Bois with your family again next year!
Thanks again.

If you want to stay in france and have a true french experience I would recommend you stay here. Gorgeous house, grounds and village. The village St. symphorien is very close to Le Man’s and easy access to Paris and very central to many other popular areas. The house is large but not too big. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds are so comfortable. Theres room for picnics on the lawn, where we had our afternoon teas most days. Great areas for children to play and very safe. One of the nicest places we have stayed in france and we go every year.
