“Great place for business or pleasure”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014

I have stayed in this hotel twice whilst travelling with work, and it is also a favourite amongst many of my colleagues. It's in the centre of Le Mans, very handy for the centre, but car parking can be difficult when arriving late. Other drivers tend to squeeze their cars in wherever they can once the marked spaces are taken, so even if you manage to park, getting out can be tricky!

The hotel interior is very impressive. The large, curved staircase makes a nice feature to the relatively small reception area, and the rooms are comfortable. I've had an excellent night's sleep on both stays (so good in one case that I completely overslept and was woken when my taxi arrived!)

Breakfast was continental self-service, and good quality with a nice selection, and WiFi was free and reliable throughout.

I will definitely stay here if I travel to Le Mans again with work, and would also use it if I were to travel as a tourist.

Wonderful stay at this hotel, it was a breath of fresh air! We have been in France for nearly 3 weeks and have been getting used to small rooms. On arrival on a Sunday we were upgraded to a privilege room for no reason. Unfortunely we found overnight that the air conditioning wasn't functioning properly, which meant we had a terrible sleep. We both thought perhaps we had set it wrong so persevered but it WAS faulty. As soon as we mentioned it in the morning, the head of housekeeping came straight up to look, and moved us to another room without question.

The room was massive by French standards, plenty of space for us to spread out suitcases and
repack (after 4 weeks abroad we need to!), special touches such as a soft bath robe, slippers, soft drinks in fridge. If we had wanted anything else we just had to ask...and the bed...without doubt the BEST we have slept in during this holiday! Loads of pillows, beautiful 1000 theadcount sheets,
smelling so fresh - might sound daft but makes such a difference.

We didn't try the breakfast so can't comment on that. The bar was closed at weekend which we thought strange but which WAS on their website so, such is life (we had booked through booking.com). However staff were more than willing to get us a drink on request. Le Mans itself was also very quiet/closed bars etc on Sunday.

The hotel is very close to bars, restaurants, shops etc. I have read other reviews that it is 15 min walk and can't imagine which route these people took. As for the area being "rough",we didn't find it so. Perhaps it is not as touristy as other areas, except for race time. We felt safe at all time as night and we are in our 50s.

This is our third stay in Accor group accommodation and we've not been disappointed:)

Room Tip: If you can afford it, go for privilege room! And check air con before unpacking:)

The room was clean but very small. The do not disturb sign means nothing to house keeping!! They went in and cleaned anyway. The room is only supplied with one bath towel and one hand towel!! The good thing is the hotel is in walking distance to many shops and restaurants.

We stayed here while visiting the Le Mans racetrack and museum. It's about 15 minute drive to the track from the hotel. It was very reasonably priced, the staff was very friendly despite having to do double duty as the bartender and manage the front desk. The hotel has parking in a garage under the hotel which is convenient although if you have a large car it will be a bit of tight a fit to get into the garage. The hotel fit our needs fine for a stop to visit the track and was an overall good value.

It's ok, stayed in privilege room nothing special, normal size television, stale smell to room and you could hear the traffic in the street.
No restaurant, breakfast was average which makes it expensive at 14.50 EU The ability to cook your own boiled egg would have been nice which is standard in most of the other Mercure Hotels.
A good 15 minute walk to restaurants and not a pleasant walk rather imposing.

After settling into our room, and returning after some lunch we noticed the toilet seat had a large crack in it. As there was a card on our bed on arrival saying if any problem at all to phone a certain number to speak to the "Rooms Division Manager" we phoned several times during the day with no reply! We heard later that the manager was away on half term holiday, why not an assistant to take calls!
On speaking to the reception, they did offer to change our room but by this time we were relaxing after a long drive, and didn't want the hassle of having to move.We also had one light on the side of the basin in the bathroom not working.

Surely the chamber maid should have seen these faults and told reception and this room would not have been let. Also the A/C did not work but we were told later by reception they turn it off in October(pity they don't tell guests by a notice in the room)

We have stayed at many Mecure hotels before and this was a very poor standard. Also I agree with other reviews this hotel is not exactly city centre, it is a good walk to any where!
