Another impressive chateau in the Loire Valley. From the winding medieval streets of Chinon which you must experience also, it is only a short (but uphill) walk to this imposing chateau. We visited with 3 children, the youngest being 5 at the time and they loved walking up and down the towers. It was an extremely hot day and because of the heat, I did struggle to climb all of the stairs and I did miss out on some of the towers. So please bear this in mind if you are not fully mobile and take plenty of water.

Beautiful views, an excellent exhibition detailing some of the history. The Knights Templar were there, as were the English Plantagenets, including Richard the Lionheart. Jeanne d'Arc met the Dauphin at this fort.

medieval in character with winding streets, dominated by a large castle and where Joan of Arc first met the auphin prior to crowning him king of France.

An impressive chateau overlooking the river. More a fortress than a luxury chateau. We enjoyed the town, buying a winemakers tart from a local cake shop and then eating in a park on the sand bank across from the chateau. Very relaxing and a little less crowded than other chateaux of the Loire.
