“First class stopover”
Reviewed 7 May 2013

If you are looking for a top quality stopover or somewhere for a few days in the French countryside then you will be hard pressed to find an all-round better destination than this. Both the main house and "manor" have been beautifully restored. The service, facilities, location and food are all excellent. It's an easy drive into Angers and the views and walks around the buildings are scenic. This is not a cheap establishment and one reviewer suggested the breakfast was too expensive, which I don't disagree with, but as this was our second visit, it certainly would not put me off.

Room Tip: A lovely outdoor pool which opens in May. Go for a first floor room in the main chateau if you can.

Many thanks for your opinion. The first floor Château rooms give a beautiful view over the Loir River and our park of 9ha with the old lime and chestnut trees. Our team works with a lot of motivation and we really wish that our guests keep a wonderful souvenir of their stay at Château de Noirieux. We hope to welcoming you again in the near futur. With our very best regards. AJM

My family stayed here for 1 night in late December 2012. The expericence was outstanding and left us remorseful we could not stay longer. The service was outstanding both at the hotel and restaurant. We had dinner and the food, again, was excellent. There were six of us, so catering to a group is difficult but the staff did a great job. The hotel rooms, although mixed in size and decor, were tasteful and well appointed. Our regret is we could not stay longer.

My wife and I spent 2 nights there. Enjoyed almost every minute of our stay. Staff is perfect, room was wonderful, dinner - fantastic. However, there were some problems. First of all, the Tripadvisor is wrong - the hotel is not located in Angers, it is in Briollay, some 30 minutes away. Strange, but GPS (iGO) missed the place almost a kilometer. And, well, it was definitely the most expensive continental breakfast I've ever come across. 24 euro - that's too much. There is no elevator, but staff will deliver your luggage up and down.

A charming setting just north of Angers with a cluster of old (beautifully restored) buildings set in spacious grounds (including a maze). Drinks on the terrace set the tone for a delightful dinner with good service (the restaurant was very full) and excellent food. Room was in the 'attic' up two floors (no lift) and was a bit cramped but with a small but good bathroom. Because of it being an attic there was a large mobile air conditioner in the room so I can imagine rooms get very hot in summer. Breakfast provided some excellent croissant though service a little perfunctory.

Very nice setting in a beautiful ensemble of buildings that have been impeccably restored. You feel like you're in an old village when you arrive, and there's even a pretty chapel. We stayed in one of the smaller (and least expensive rooms) because we arrived late and left early. The room was quite small and the floors creaked, but it was fine for the night. The mattress was very hard!
I imagine there are some really beautiful rooms, and would definitely advise getting one of the more expensive ones if you want to make it a special stay. We did not try the pool, but it looked lovely.
Breakfast on the terrace in the morning was a treat - the only think I thought could eally be improved upon was the coffee, it was very weak and more like a typical American coffee than the kind of coffee I'm used to drinking in Europe. All in all, quite nice.

My husband and I had a lovely dinner in this chateau

We are happy we did not choose this place as a hotel as it doesn't not have a Castle feel to it but more of a large italian villa.

The dinner was very good, service was good but very pretencious. The ambiance was nice and pretty but it felt cold and distant which took away from the whole experience.
There were a couple of things that should not have happened in such an envinroment especially since they are pretending to be so formal, such as the lack of a butter knife or a waiter forgetting to re-fill a glass of water.

we did enjoy our dinner very much, we had a set gourmet menu with wine pairing which was outstanding and worth the guide michelin review. The price was good for the quality of the food. We paid around 200 euros for the 2 of us including 2 glasses of champagne.

we would not go back though as we feel there are other places that can be as good and more friendly

It definately caters to an older crowd ( 60+)

Wonderful setting, accommodation and restaurant! What else to say?
Rooms are spacious and very well appointed. Decoration is in-line with "chateau" type and well in-tune with setting.
Restaurant was truly excellent. We went for the "menu harmonie" and loved it.
Only point of notice is breakfast service when waiting time was just a little on the too long. But then it looked like all guests came down at the same time...
A place to try and to enjoy.
