Express service. Limited selection of food. Translations were not displayed of what individual dishes were. No sandwiches/rolls served. Pleasantly surprised at how much the kids ate - typical kids menu at 10 euro - rice mixed with prawns for starter, fish with mushrooms and courgette with couscous and chocolate mousse for pudding with an orange capri sun. Toilets not located in café.

It's a buffet with a difference. For 16 euro you get a choice of 3 starters, 1 main and 3 deserts. The quality of all the dishes was great and they were very creative. Congratulations to the chef for turning a museum cafe into something I would go back to. (next time I visit the chateau)

Much enjoyed a lunch here - helped by a sunny day so that we could sit outside and admire the chateau gardens. Good food. lunch concept was serve yourself to a couple of small starters, a main and a couple of small desserts. All nicely done - a very pleasant meal in a superb location

Chateau d'Angers has many different buildings and spacious beautiful gardens, plus the unique Apocalypse Gallery. It means, you spend a lot of time, walking around the grounds. You need desperately a break. So you find yourself at the Monument Café. Usually the cafeterias at the castles have basic menu and basic service. Not this one anyway. The menu is excellent for a cafeteria, the dishes wonderfully presented and the decoration of the tables significant. It's a small place in modern style but with many features kept from the past. There is a screen on the main wall and the video concerning Chateau d'Angers, goes from one building to another, explaining the details. It's useful information for the guests and in case they visit the cafeteria before seeing the Castle, they will find a lot of useful information there. It's not cheap but not expensive too, because the quality of the food isn't cheap at all. On the contrary there are a lot of special dishes and if you are lucky to be there during the lunch buffet time, you'll try things that you haven't tried before. Unfortunately we arrived late, but we enjoyed our coffees and some very fresh sweets. It's a chance for the Castle's visitors to relax in style!

We grabbed a quick drink here on our tour around the castle and it was very nice, particularly the local Sauvignon. My husband wasn't as keen on the local beer, its distinctive flavours better for a taster portion than a whole glass. Efficient, pleasant service and prices on a par with the city centre bars (and much nicer produce) make this a recommendation.
